After a wonderful winter break, we are happy to be back. We're glad to see everyone back at the co-op, and we hope you had a wonderful break! The first session was great. There were many highlights, but a few stand out as our favorites: the trip to the BSO, the science fairs, SweetFrog, the Aquarium, the pumpkin farm, and last but not least, our holiday game day. We appreciate all of the parents and grandparents who attended our events and field trips. We definitely felt the spirit of the season because of it!

We believe the kids are now prepared to settle into some predictable routines. With the new year come new activities, such as presentations by small business owners, hands-on learning activities, animal dissection experiments, and outings to nearby small businesses and universities, to name a few.

We'd also like to extend a warm welcome to the new M.O.R.E. of Baltimore students, families, and instructors. We look forward to seeing our students' academic progress and community ties deepen.

This year, we have a lot of hands-on activities planned. Unfortunately, the majority of a parent's tuition payment goes toward labor costs, with only a small portion going toward school supplies. We can only provide these fun and educational activities with your financial assistance. Each family is asked to buy one (or a few) items from the Amazon Wish List. This is a suggested list, and any contribution is greatly appreciated.

M.O.R.E on the Weekends

In January 2023, we’ll be expanding our program to include weekend entrepreneurship and physical education classes for children. Classes will be held in Catonsville.

M.O.R.E of Dundalk

Starting in January, on Mondays and Fridays, M.O.R.E of Dundalk will host STEM Classes. Hands-on learning opportunities are available. Accompanying parent is required.

You should be building your student’s portfolio NOW!

Whether your homeschool review is done by a State of Maryland Homeschool Reviewer, or your review is completed by an Umbrella group, you should be preparing NOW for your twice a year review.

The first review is generally between November and January and the second is around May or June.

Here’s your responsibilities as a Homeschool Parent:

• Families must notify their local school system of their intent to homeschool a minimum of 15 days before their official homeschooling start date.

• COMAR requires families to update their local school system of any change in status including enrollment in school, change in umbrella enrollment, new student enrollment, change of address.

• Per state regulations, families must show evidence of regular and thorough instruction in 8 subjects: English, Social Studies, Science, Math, PE, Art, Music and Health. Generally, students should be covering all 8 subjects each academic year.

Parents!! We NEED YOU…

We seek Parent Volunteers to help us with the following activities:

1) Teacher-led instructional support, usually in the classroom

2) Reading with children who need extra help

The PPT (Parent Partnership Team) was established by M.O.R.E. of Baltimore to help facilitate parent participation in ongoing efforts to ensure the success of our co-op, much like the PTA hosted at traditional schools.
