Worship Service
Rev. Paul Johnson, “Easter: A Celebration of Joy”

Each year as I prepare an Easter sermon I have in mind the words of Rev Dr. Frederick May Eliot, president of the American Unitarian Association from 1937 until his death in 1958.  “When I go to church on Easter I expect to be reminded of the elemental truth that in this universe of ours with all its hesitancies and timidities and tragedy, the tides of life are flowing fresh, manifold, and free. I expect to find myself swept into participation in the universal chant of praise for the irresistible shining glory of the great gift of life which for a brief moment and in an infinitesimal degree I have the privilege of sharing.” I look forward to seeing you.  Rev. Paul

6 Ways to Cut Out Plastic on Our Next Vacation

As we begin to think about traveling again, let’s consider ways to eliminate plastic on our next vacation. These six tips are from The Discoverer Blog.

1.  Opt for an eco-friendly resort that already uses less or zero plastic.
2.  Shop at a local farmer’s market (no pre-packaged produce).
3.  Bring a water purification device or reusable water bottle.
4.  Bring reusable utensils and food containers.
5.  Bring eco-friendly travel products (bamboo toothbrushes, silk dental floss, shampoo balls).
6.  Bring reusable shopping bags.

Your computer may go to sleep, but it’s still sucking up energy. Turn your computer and monitor off at the end of the day.

Caring Candles

We are sad to report that Greg Hines passed away at his home on March 25, 2021.  He died of heart failure and had been dealing with this condition for some time. Greg had been an active member of UUCJ for many years as a member of the Board, Denominational Affairs, CUUPS, Sunday coffee, the O’Leno Spring Retreat,  the summer regional conference, SUSSI, and  General Assembly.  A memorial service will be planned once the church has reopened. Please send condolences to Marion and keep her in your thoughts at this difficult time. Marion requests no phone calls at this time, but cards to express your condolences.

Kim and Darlene Larsen are the proud great grand parents of baby Juniper born on March 1, 2021 in Tifton, Georgia.  Congratulations to her parents, Marina and Shane Singletary!

Mike Aiken is home and teaching virtually from his home since March 15, 2021. Best wishes for your continuing recovery.
