November has now become Movember for many. We attended a Marketing Association forum held in the Seafarers’ Green Room event space in Britomart led by Cassie Roma of the Warehouse Group. The panel included the Country Manager for Movember.
 
As a mother of two sons, one of the most compelling insights I gathered into men’s mental health was the effect of change. During the early school years, boys walk shoulder to shoulder and share. After 18 they spend time face to face at the pub and share. Around 26 they begin pairing off into relationships and careers managing the responsibilities of life and stop sharing and start suppressing. It just simply happens. In contrast we women keep sharing throughout our lives. So, check in with the men in your life. Support them and encourage them to get some guy time.
 
Summer is here, the fish are biting and what better way to reconnect than fishing. Lew has an annual trip on the water with his old school friends coming up and that makes me happy, knowing what I now know.

Black Friday is upon us. It began two weeks ago with various early out of the gate tactics, deal a day reveal campaign reminiscent of the Christmas 12 days tradition, time-based ticking clocks creating FOMO and beginning the water cooler conversation of wish lists. We’ve been monitoring the relatively new Shopper event gathering insights to deposit into the Energi Shopper insights monitor adding 2019, to 2017 & 2018.

Alibaba created the celebration of the Single Self. Singles’ Day is now a digital retail phenomenon. With $20.5 billion spent within the first hour, overall growth was driven by 26% ending with $59 billion in sales.
 
At a local level, Britomart created a QR code tunnel of brands for those keen to catch a bargain from the luxury stores within the Britomart Precinct supported by Lexus and a QR promotion to win the use of the luxury vehicle.

The Energi Mini got a Mini Mo Make-over in support of Movember as the result of an e-DM sent out by Mini Garage on November 1, we thought it would be rude not to drive the Movember message throughout the month.

Digital Image Assets in the online shopper world need to be in mint condition. They are increasingly the first impression of your brand.
