Record amount of Czech-British bilateral trade in 2016

Based on the preliminary statistics of the Czech Statistical Office, the bilateral trade between the Czech Republic (CZ) and the United Kingdom (UK) has reached a record high of 9,537 billion GBP in 2016, out of which Czech goods exported to the UK amounted to the record 6,593 billion GBP and British export to the CZ to 2,944 billion GBP.

The very rapid pace of growth of Czech export to the UK from previous years significantly slowed down last year, and rose only by 0.1%. The UK scored as the 5th most important export territory for Czech goods, narrowly losing the 4th place to France in 2016.

On the other hand, British export to CZ grew rapidly in 2016, 25% more than in 2015, reaching 2,945 billion GBP. The lower exchange rate of GBP since the referendum on leaving the EU made British goods much cheaper for Czech customers, thus driving exports up.

The total amount of bilateral trade reached the record high of 9,537 billion GBP in 2016, which is 6.35% higher than in 2015, making the UK the 7th most important trading partner globally in the last year.

The Czech Republic continues to have a substantial trade surplus in bilateral trade with Great Britain of 3,649 billion GBP.

We are looking for new voluntary members of the CBCC Executive Committee! Register your interest with tereza@cbcc.org.uk
