Check It Out is Back!

We are pleased to introduce the updated (and virtual) version of our newsletter, Check It Out!

Expect to see monthly tidbits about what's going on in the library and how we are continuing to serve you and your students.

Follow Us Online

Yup.  We teach.

Our librarians taught over 100 classes together this semester. We provide both general and specialized instruction classes that will help your students become more familiar with what services the library offers and how to use those services.

The instruction classes take place in the library's classroom, equipped with computer stations.  Most sessions include a demonstration of the library catalog, several online databases, and reinforce critical thinking skills.  We also allow time for students to begin work on their projects with individual assistance from the librarian.

Interested in having us instruct your students in information literacy or on another topic?  Sign up by clicking the blue button below.

There are now many more ways to contact the librarians and staff here at the Evelyn S. Field Library.  In addition to our already existing accounts of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, you can now follow us on Snapchat as well.  Follow us for campus information, upcoming programs, and news on libraries and information literacy.

Did you know we're also available through online chat, by phone 908.218.8865, and you can text us too at 908.409.3111?  Super accessible.

Chill Week Coming Soon

Got stressed out students?  A little stressed out yourself?  Come and enjoy a week of activities at the Evelyn S. Field Library during finals, dedicated to relaxing the body and stimulating the mind.  Events will include pet therapy, hot cocoa, knitting, and much more.  Stay tuned for further details.

Joining the Blogosphere

The Evelyn S. Field Library has recently joined the blogosophere.  What does that mean?  It means we will regularly be contributing to the global conversation through online journalism.  Contents will include more in-depth information about our library and our philosophies of information literacy and academic librarianship.  Highlights will be shared here in our digital newlsetter, Check It Out.  But you'll want to subscribe to get the latest posts as they become available.

Display of Freedom

We have rotating displays throughout the library.  Our newest display is on freedom:  academic freedom, religious freedom, and freedom of cultural expression.

Our displays revolve around national themes of the month, current events, seasonal holidays, and topics of specific interest to RVCC.  All items in all of our displays are available for checkout, so "feel free" to take something home.  Recommendations for displays also welcome.
It is the purpose of the library newsletter to promote library services and resources to the faculty and staff of the college, to encourage faculty involvement and participation, and to increase library awareness.
