Happy Holidays From Our Team!
With winter upon us, we thought it appropriate to feature The Ice Harvest by John Elwood Bundy as our object of the month. But fear not, we have spring in mind already and also included a painting by Theodore Clement (T.C.) Steele, one of Bundy's contemporaries and perhaps the most famous Indiana painter associated with the Brown County artist colony.
Afternoon at the House of the Singing Winds figures prominently in our forthcoming exhibition of T.C. Steele paintings from the DePauw University Art Collection and the Indiana State Museum. The exhibition is endorsed by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission and will run from February 1 - June 11, 2017. See you at the gallery!
Also, if you're in Greencastle over the holidays and haven't already seen the recently conserved Lincoln statue by Daniel Chester French, stop on by the history department lounge on the second floor of Harrison Hall here on campus. The beautifully restored bronze statue has a brand new plinth courtesy of Jerry Bates, the Peeler Art Center woodshop manager and gallery preparator. The new base is built almost entirely from reclaimed trees felled for the Hoover Dining Hall construction site.

Warm wishes and safe travels this
holiday season! We look forward to
seeing you in the galleries soon!

In Other News:

The E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation recently announced a $13,274 gift to assist with improvements to the care of nine Japanese folding screens at the Richard E. Peeler Art Center. In an effort to modernize access to the collections for student and faculty use, DePauw University staff will replace an existing storage bin with museum-quality storage furniture and purchase a new HEPA vacuum to more effectively clean and preserve the Japanese screens and collection storage areas.

We are so grateful and thankful for this generous gift
and look forward to its implementation within our storage areas!
