During December LAWC was invited to deliver workshops for all year 9s and 10 students, the first time they have been invited to Challney High School for Boys to deliver workshops on forced marriage and honour based abuse.'The most interesting part of the workshop was looking at the case studies and watching the video.' Peer Productions delivered an Our Girl workshop day at Thamesmead School in Surbiton in December to 20 year 9 students alongside 7 peer educators. Young people learned about honour based violence, forced marriage and domestic abuse and watched the Our Girl film. Students were engaged and shocked- 'I just couldn’t believe that any parents would put their traditions before their own child,’ and 'How can falling in love be a crime?' Inspired by the Our Girl film the young people worked together to create original drama using a blend of image theatre, physical theatre, script work and improvisation to develop new material that would later be presented in an assembly of 200 students with the Our Girl film. “Our students were really moved by the Our Girl workshop and I could not believe how focused their work became', said Head of Drama Karen Hall.
