Hello Friends, and happy 2017!!

I am so glad you are part of our new network, and I know we will grow over this next year -- adding more capacity to support the amateur musician community and create more and more pathways to music making.

Many really good things to look forward to in the new year, starting with the opportunities below to sing choral masterworks with fabulous local ensembles!  And I'm very excited about a partnership with the SF Chamber Orchestra for their special Side-By-Side event on February 26. I will be there and hope to see all you string players!

Please forward this email to people who might want to join the list or might want us to list their ensemble or opportunity. I know there are a lot more groups out there and I want to include them  let's grow this network!

My hope in 2017 -- more music for all!

CHORUS AUDITIONS - SF BACH CHOIR

The San Francisco Bach Choir offers dedicated singers the opportunity to study and perform both Early Music and the diverse repertoire of great works from other eras and genres. We use historically informed performance practice, and perform with world-class professional instrumentalists and soloists, both period and modern. Experienced singers with good reading skills are warmly invited to audition.

Building on our triumphant 80th anniversary year, this season we are excited to stretch our wings and explore incredible repertoire that showcases our wonderful choir and fine instrumentalists. In May 2017, the choir performs Beethoven's Mass in C and Mozart's Vespers (de Confessore) K. 339, with a Classical-instrument orchestra.

Auditions will take place on on January 10 and 17, 2017 in San Francisco.
Not ready for an audition? Interested singers are welcome to "try us out" and sing with the choir before auditioning to see if it’s the right fit for you. Try Us Out Nights Tues. SIDE BY SIDE with the SF Chamber Orchestra

Calling all string players! On February 26, bring your instrument to our 3:00 Main Stage Concert at Berkeley’s lovely St. John’s Presbyterian Church, and join us afterward for a fun, informal reading session with the fabulous (and friendly) players of the wonderful SF Chamber Orchestra. It will be the very first in what we hope will be a series of side-by-side get-togethers, just for the musical fun of it.

During the performance, enjoy some beautiful songs by Canteloube, a brand new work by Berkeley’s own Peter Josheff, and a string orchestra version of Schubert’s thrilling Death and the Maiden quartet. A side-by-side reading session will immediately follow the concert, then join us for light refreshments at our post-reading reception.

Music (in case you feel like practicing) and event details will be provided upon registration.
