This month’s news item is a very simple, but an effective one.
A local engineering company have a series of test rigs, for testing very high pressure diesel injectors which operate at over 3000bar (approx. 42000psi)!!
If (when) one of these parts leaks, there is the risk that the smoke alarms in the building are activated, which would result in all staff being evacuated as a matter of course.
To prevent this inadvertent mass exodus of the staff without good reason, it was decided that a “hood” with extraction attached be put over the rig.
As you will see from the photo, it’s a very simple but effective solution.
The material chosen was PETG, for its clarity, robustness and ease of processing, producing an effective, but relatively economical solution.
