Endorsement by the Naples Daily News!
I am humbled and honored that today the Naples Daily News has endorsed me for the Marco Island City Council.  Below is the excerpt from the editorial page:

Charlette Roman

Roman brings demonstrated leadership skills and an understanding of what’s involved in managing a community, products of her 26-year military career, rising to Army colonel.

Her service included commander of the Army Garrison in Fort Gordon in Georgia, where she was in charge of a city-sized installation of buildings, roads, police and fire response, all with a staff of some 3,000. She learned to work with personnel, civilians and contractors, a skill set that well-prepares her for a council role.

Her credentials go beyond that, however. In 14 years since retiring to Marco Island, she’s gained an appreciation of preserving nature through volunteering at Rookery Bay Reserve. She’s learned the ropes of local government through serving on city and county planning boards.

Her no-nonsense demeanor will help keep council on task, though we’re convinced she can do so with managerial grace gained through her military experience. We applaud her commitment to increased transparency and reasoning, such as questioning how a veterans service center building for remote Marco Island got into the state budget when “the community had no idea about it.”
