COMPOSE Writing Fellows |
Center of Muslim Politics and World Society (COMPOSE) under FOSS hosts the second batch of Writing Fellows. COMPOSE received a number of research proposals coming from Indonesia and overseas and selected ten fellows: Dr. Ahmet Koroglu, Istanbul University, Turkey. Research title: The Boundaries of Belonging: Hajj and Transnational Experience from a Turkish Perspective.

UIN Dissertation Writing Fellowship | To foster closer exchange between UIII and the Indonesian State Islamic Universities (UIN), COMPOSE offers dissertation writing fellowship that will allow Ph.D students at any UIN in Indonesia to spend some time writing their dissertation at UIII. The fellows are expected to actively engage with academic activities in campus. The UIN fellowship is oriented towards building a network between UIII and religion-based universities under the Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs. For the first batch, five dissertation writing fellows have been selected after a competitive selection process: Aprilia Restuning Tunggal, Ph.D student at UIN Yogyakarta. Dissertation topic: Politik Luar Negeri RI di Timur Tengah: Studi Kasus Kebijakan Luar Negeri Indonesia terhadap Mesir pada masa kepemimpinan Presiden Joko Widodo 2014 - 2021

Prof. Ahmet T. Kuru delivered a public in-person on campus. He is the author of Islam, Authoritarianism, and Underdevelopment: a Global and Historical Comparison (Cambridge, 2019). Dr. Philips Vermonte was invited as one of the speakers in "Seminar on the Reflection of Ahmad Syafii Maarif's Thoughts and Legacies" organized by the Maarif Institute and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, 12 November 2022. Dr. Philips Vermonte published an op-ed titled "Indonesia Plays a Unique Role as G20 president. Will it matter?", Jakarta Post special edition on the G20 Summit, November 2022.
