COMPOSE Writing Fellows

Center of Muslim Politics and World Society (COMPOSE) under FOSS hosts the second batch of Writing Fellows. COMPOSE received a number of research proposals coming from Indonesia and overseas and selected ten fellows:

  1. Dr. Ahmet Koroglu, Istanbul University, Turkey. Research title: The Boundaries of Belonging: Hajj and Transnational Experience from a Turkish Perspective.

  2. Dr. Amanah Nurish, ICRS UGM, Indonesia. Research title: Transnational Islamic Movement in Indonesia: Reimagining Political Trajectory in 2024.

  3. Sudiana A. Sasmita, Macquarie University, Australia. Research title: Local Democracy as the Way for Conflict and Peace Resolution in West Papua.

  4. Ary Hermawan, University of Melbourne, Australia. Research title: Taliban Symphatizers’ or Fearless Graft Buster? Computational Propaganda as Hegemonic instrument in Twitter Conversation over the Firing KPK Employees.

  5. Geger Riyanto, Heidelberg University, Germany. Research title: Performing Peace in the Face of its Potential Collapse: the Case of post-1999 Sectarian Conflict in Ambon

Aldi Nur Fadil Auliya, our M.A in Political Science student presented his paper on the 6th Panel of "the Conference of Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif” organized by Sociology Department, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta on 23 - 24 November 2022.

Ronaa Nisa’us Sholikhah, our M.A in Political Science student, presented a paper titled "Women Clerics in the Prevention of Sexual Violence in Islamic Boarding Schools" in Mubadalah Postgraduate Forum (MPF) held by Kongres Ulama Perempuan Indonesia (KUPI, Congress of the Indonesian Female Ulema) II in UIN Walisongo Semarang, 22 November 2022.

Tri Sulistianing Astuti, our M.A in Political Science student, presented a paper during "the 2022 Indonesia Focus Conference" organized by School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Pittsburg, 22 October 2022. Her paper title was “Health and Safety on the Polling Day: Do the 2024 Elections still need it?”

Our Faculty Members on the Move

Dr. Philips Vermonte was invited as one of the speakers in "Seminar on the Reflection of Ahmad Syafii Maarif's Thoughts and Legacies" organized by the Maarif Institute and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, 12 November 2022.

Dr. Philips Vermonte published an op-ed titled "Indonesia Plays a Unique Role as G20 president. Will it matter?", Jakarta Post special edition on the G20 Summit, November 2022.

Dr. Nia Deliana presented a paper title Between Indonesia and the Indian Ocean: South Indian in Maritime Circulation and Religio-intellectual Connection in Spiced Islam Conference: India, Indonesia and Indian Ocean held in UIN Syarief Hidayatullah Jakarta on 28th November 2022.

Dr. Ridwan as part of Alpha-I team, accomplished an Endline Study on “Early Childhood Parenting and Child Protection on Sponsored Children’s Families” (October 2022)

Dr. Ridwan also received a micro grant on Joint Fellows of KAICIID Fellows Network (KFN) entitled “Peace Camp in Banjarmasin 2023” (October 2022).

In addition, he was a member of the organizing committee of G20 Religion Twenty (R20) Summit on 2-3 November in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Dr. Djayadi Hanan was a speaker in a forum titled "Analyzing Party and Party System in Indonesia" during the Kosgoro 1957 National Leadership Orientation, Bogor, Oct 18, 2022.

He participated as a resource person in Focused Group Discussion on "Conceptualizing Variables and Methods of Intra-party Democracy" in 25 November 2022, organize by the Indonesian Association for Election and Democracy (Perludem), Jakarta.

Dr. Djayadi Hanan was invited as a resource person in National School for Young Politicians organized by Satunama Foundation of Yogyakarta in 19 Nov 2022.

He was also invited as a resource person in National Talkshow on Peaceful Election organized by Tribun Network, 17 Nov 2022.
