FROM YOUR HEAD TEACHER
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you all had a relaxing half term holiday.
Year 8 Assessment Week has gone well with many pupils working hard to reach their potential and Year 7 have been working hard to make improvements on their assessments, reflecting our Growth Mindset; we can always strive to make improvements.
On Wednesday, Mr Deveson launched our Flight Path model with Year 7 pupils in a special assembly. Our assessment and reporting system is, of course, being developed and adapted in accordance with national changes. However, we feel the system is robust in its nature, reflecting the concept of Growth Mindset, and that progress is ongoing and not always linear. Our GPA (grade point average) approach will hopefully give a more accurate picture of progress across a year.
We hosted a visit from educational consultant Penny Sharratt this week. She spent time observing the routines of the day, observed lessons and interviewed a range of pupils about their perceptions of behaviour. The feedback we received was extremely useful.
Although the vast majority of TKA pupils conduct themselves with integrity, politeness and respect, we still find ourselves being challenged by those who are not yet invested in the vision of our school. And it is that challenge that we continue to analyse and as a result refine our practice.
Enjoy the weekend
Sophie Cavanagh.
