FROM YOUR HEAD TEACHER
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we are delighted to announce TKA is an oversubscribed school! Year 6 pupils received confirmation of their place in September 2017 and we are looking forward to welcoming parents to a meeting at the school next Tuesday. The transition process will start with meetings in the summer term and we look forward to meeting our new cohort.
Another highlight of the week was World Book Day. All pupils and staff enjoyed dressing up and celebrating our love of books. I saw some amazingly creative costumes and House points will be awarded next week. You can see many of these costumes on our Twitter feed @TheKingstonAca. We are a school that recognises the importance of reading to aid progress and attainment but we also just love reading for pleasure. Do have a look at the Reading Challenge lists on the website if you require guidance on recommended books for your child.
As part of our STEM strategy, the RAF Roadshow on Thursday was also an excellent showcase of technology where pupils had the opportunity to see a drone in action and demonstrations of engines. Many of our pupils said their perception of engineering had changed as a result of the show and we hope we are convincing them of the benefits of pursuing a career in STEM.
Have a good weekend
Sophie Cavanagh.
