FROM YOUR HEAD TEACHER
Dear Parents and Carers,
Another eventful week at TKA with visits from Metro, a charity specialising in diversity and equality, and Kingston College students, Year 7 parents' evenings and the celebration of Red Nose Day.
You will have received letters about a range of exciting overseas trips being organised for our current Year 8 pupils. Do send in your reply slips promptly so that we can gauge precise numbers. Year 7 will soon be receiving information about Summer Camp taking place towards the end of next term.
The Year 7 parents' evening was a great success and it was most gratifying to see so many parents attending to hear what was overwhelmingly positive feedback from the class teachers. I recognise that the demand for appointments to see teachers outstripped number of slots available. I would encourage Year 7 parents to email individual subject teachers should they wish to have a consultation about their child's progress by either phone or email.
Pupils will be taking part in our Science Discovery Days next week, run in conjunction with Kingston University. These were a huge success last year and enabled our pupils to experience a wide range of hands-on science activities. Our links with our Trust partners continue to go from strength to strength. We were very happy to welcome in make-up artists from Kingston College who will be back stage at our production of Midsummer Night's Dream. You can see more on the results of their creative work below.
Our pupils will be enjoying a fantastic variety of activities at school next week, from drumming workshops to Flamenco dancing to caligraphy, as we celebrate Cultural Week. Given recent events in London, it is more important than ever that we open our pupils' eyes to diverse cultures, so that they appreciate and value their differences and embrace the fundamental British values of respect and tolerance.
Next week I will be returning to the topic of school funding and providing you with guidance on how our parents might support the national campaign to protect school funding.
Remember that clocks go back on Sunday!
