At the end of July, I was present for a significant moment in Canadian history as I attended the Mass at Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Quebec, held by his Holy Father, the Pope. I was able to meet with indigenous elder and former Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick, Graydon Nicholas, Conservative Senator, Percy Mockler, and former Quebec Premier, Phillipe Couillard, to name just a few. This was an important time for Canada and one that I hope is fruitful at bringing more unity to our great nation!

A Review of July 2022

I enjoyed visiting some of the small businesses in Essex at the beginning of July and talking about how business is going during the current economic instability. I look forward to visiting businesses in the future to talk about the current economic challenges and solutions!

Top: Thank you to Michelle Lettner of Taggeditpaperco2 in Essex for the great gifts you carry in your store!! This is the perfect place to buy those fun birthday and Christmas gifts you need!!! Glad to hear business is going so well!!

Middle left: This once tanning salon has now expanded to FATE - Fashion, Accessories, Tanning, Etc. and they do a great job at their social media. What a fun place to shop for clothes….they even have a guys section!!! Thanks Krista! Middle right: You have to visit Kelly and Donna at Crafty Candles in Essex just for the wonderful smell alone!!! All the candles are made right there in the store and they are great gifts!!

Bottom left: Staff at the Rock-a-Bye store in Essex Centre, tell me business has been doing really well and there has been a baby boom over the last few years!!! I had to pick something up for my grandson while I was there!! This is a great store for all your baby needs. Thanks, Olivia, for your help!! Bottom right: Thanks to Justin, owner at Watson & Slade barbershop on Talbot St. in Essex for the great conversation. One of my staff tells me this is an awesome place to get your haircut!!!
Above: it was good to meet with Nelson Santos for one last time. Congratulations Nelson Santos - Mayor of Kingsville for 25 years of service to the Town of Kingsville. All the best for the next season as you move onto a new position in another region!!
Above: Thank you to this boaters group at Riverfront Harbour Marina, LaSalle, for bringing up some important issues that concern the boating community. Thank you also to Mike and Sherie Meloche for setting this meeting up. — at Riverfront Harbour
Above: Great to be at the grand re-opening of the newly renovated Zehrs in Kingsville, this month. So much in this store is from our area so don’t forget to buy LOCAL when you can!!! It’s true this store has great service, great food and a beautiful new interior!!! Thank you Zehrs Kingsville for serving our community! I hear they hope to add 20 more jobs so look out for those vacancies if you need work!!!
Above: Thank you to Kevin Wright, Commercial Manager, Bradly Elliott, Grain Trading Manager, & Trevor Durrant, Plant Manager for the excellent tour at ADM Agri-Industries Company, Windsor. This is literally where most of the grain, wheat, soya bean, and canola goes after leaving farms in Essex County and here it gets processed and shipped to the USA and Europe.

They are doing an amazing job but need to be able to expand, for several reasons, and are looking for more funding to help create more jobs and keep doing what they’re doing, just bigger and better. Thanks also to Steve Salmons from the Windsor Port Authority for helping to set up this important meeting. #admwindsor
Click the image above for a quick video from me explaining how great it is to have a company like ADM Agri-Industries so close to our farmers in Essex County. #admwindsor
Above: Thank you to Jim Crichton for your 47 years of telling stories, gathering facts, and reading the news to the residents of our region and Canada. This month, I had the privilege of awarding Jim with a well-deserved Queen’s Platinum Jubilee pin in recognition of his service to our community!! Well done Jim and thank you for an excellent conversation!
Above: Thank you John Fairley, VP of St. Clair College for touring the new Sports Park at St. Clair College with me. It was great to see the excellent facilities. The Softball field, Acumen Stadium, Beach Volleyball, and new Zeklemam Tennis Centre are second-to-none and open to both students and the community. Book your time and sport at www.sportspark.ca!! How great is it to have these facilities in our region! Also, thank you to Waseem Habash, Senior Vice President at St. Clair College. I had a very encouraging time meeting and discussing how we will train the next generation of workers!! This is something I am very passionate about so I look forward to doing what we can to improve and expand training in skilled trades!!
Above: Thank you Didier Marotte, Executive Director of the Activités Franco Windsor/Essex/Kent Francophone Community Centre for Windsor, Essex & Kent, for your invitation to visit. It was a very helpful time for me to understand more about how French speakers come to Canada. I must say the centre does an excellent job at assisting clients through the immigration process, integration to life here in Canada and ongoing support for a long time after they arrive. The new centre looks amazing and has many programs for a variety of needs. Well done!! https://ccfwek.org
I was able to attend the Elected Officials tour of the Gordie-Howe Bridge construction zone. It was great to have an inside view of what is going on there and how things are moving along. The management and workers of this massive undertaking are really doing an amazing job. Well done!
