From the Superintendent's Desk...

Time passes so quickly.  It seems like only yesterday that we were beginning the new school year, and now we’re in the midst of the holiday season!  Attending a holiday concert is a great way to enhance the holidays and to boost one’s spirits.
Our students and staff have been practicing and rehearsing a long time for the upcoming holiday concerts, and we have some extremely talented performers.  Please set a goal to attend at least one; you will not regret it, and our students and staff will appreciate it very much!

NCES Students Pledge to 'Say Something!'

NCES had great participation with Say Something week Oct. 16-20 with all students signing the pledge to Say Something if a classmate needs help. This is another opportunity for us to help educate students about looking for warning signs, signals or threats from a classmate. It helps the students to be able to act on what they hear or see and take it seriously.
We had 434/434 students participate in Say Something week at NCES by signing the pledge, and all pledges will be posted in the cafeteria to remind them of their important pledge!

NCES Welcomes Veterans

New Carlisle Elementary welcomed veterans to school for the Veterans Day program at 10 a.m. on November 10.
Three students (Cecil Kilburn, Selena Cruz and Cora Godfrey) read original compositions titled “What it Means to Be a Veteran” during the program, and they did an amazing job reading in front of all our visitors! Students sang some songs under the direction of music teacher Mrs. Willardson, and some Veterans stayed to visit in the classrooms after the program. They shared their experiences and answered questions. It was a great honor to have the veterans share their time and experiences with our students.

Donnelsville Honors Veterans

Donnelsville celebrated Veterans Day on November 13th this year due to water problems at the building. The great news is this did not stop the veterans from pouring into our building. Our activities included a breakfast for the veterans and the student(s) they represented. It was a neat time for the veterans to talk with one another and their children or grandchildren.
