Vancouver International Guitar Festival is proud to present Don Ross in concert JUNE 30, 2019

One of today’s true innovators of guitar composition and technique, Don Ross has emerged as one of the most respected musicians in Canada and one of the top guitarists in the world. It is no exaggeration to say that his groove-oriented style has influenced a generation of fingerstyle players over his 30 year career.
In September 1996, he managed to do what no other player has done: win the prestigious U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship for the second time (he first won in 1988). The competition cannot be won only with immaculate technique, but the player’s music must also display a high degree of emotion and intensity,— hallmarks of Don’s style.
Don will be performing at the renowned Sarah McLachlan School of Music, just blocks from VIGF’s venue, Creekside Community Centre, Olympic Village, Vancouver.
Don tours regularly across Canada, the USA, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, China, Australia, Russia and India. He has played with symphony orchestras in Canada and Germany.
Back this year - “ Time-Out" Bar & Lounge! Take a "Time Out" from the guitar exhibition to enjoy your favourite beverage and hear some great music! Featuring: Don Alder, Itamar Erez, David Martone, Jamie Stillway, Paul Pigat, Terry Robb, Josue Tacoronte Otero and Jacob Seyer.

Spotlight on: Itamar Erez

To capture the essence of Itamar's music is to be taken on a journey where different cultures meet in harmony. Itamar's music holds a depth and sensitivity that touches listeners deeply; It blends the delicateness of Middle Eastern music, the freedom found in Jazz and the passion of Flamenco, creating a unique sound all his own.

Itamar performs internationally and gives workshops and masterclasses, teaching his unique approach to music and guitar playing. During 2014-15, Itamar performed in Canada, USA,Germany, Holland, Austria, Cyprus, Israel, India, Tunisia and Colombia.
Spotlight on: Cedar Mountain Mandolin Company

Since 2008, I’ve been building traditionally styled instruments in the mandolin family, based on the Loar F5 & A5 original designs. I use the highest quality materials & hardware and apply innovative engineering & construction techniques for the professional musician.  In addition to traditional designs, I’ve also built numerous custom stringed instruments ranging from Octave Mandolins (based on the Gibson L5 Guitar body style) to Acoustic Double Basses.
