Dr. Stephen Moshman

Wednesday, December 4, 2019
10:15 AM at Rockland Conservatory of Music

Back by popular demand, Steve will be talking about Beethoven and how his health conditions and most particularly his deafness had profound effects on his compositions. Should be a fascinating exploration from a medical doctor who is also a musician.

Stephen Moshman, MD is currently Professor of Clinical Medicine at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY.  Starting his musical life as a violinist, he developed an interest in conducting and composition early on, and founded and conducted the University of Rochester Baroque Ensemble while attending college there.  In 1982, he organized and has since conducted the Albert Einstein Symphony Orchestra, a community based full symphony orchestra with a regular four-concert season which has attracted internationally known soloists and considerable local recognition, including features in The New York Times and on the "Morning Report" program on National Public Radio.  Also, since 1996, in  every other season for its March concert the Orchestra features a complete concert performance of a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta with full orchestra, soloists and chorus.
