SHORT SUMMARY OF - THE WFSGI BI-ANNUAL MEETINGS
BERN, SWITZERLAND, 24-27 JUNE 2019

Many thanks to our members and interested parties who attended the successful Bi-Annual committee meetings 2019 at WFSGI headquarters in Bern. The meetings were followed by an official dinner on Wednesday evening at the top of the Gurten hill.

Aquatics Committee Meeting

The Aquatics Committee was discussing topics including FINA relations, the EU‘s PPE Regulation and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The Committee also discussed ITU relations, open water swimming and water safety/drowning and received a presentation on sustainability, current trends and a more sustainable future for the Aquatics industry.

Physical Activity Committee Meeting

The Physical Activity Committee was discussing topics including the ongoing sport sector dialogue with the World Health Organisation and research on global physical activity participation levels. Further, there was a presentation by the International Olympic Committee on its Sport and Active Society Commission that WFSGI has just become a member of. The Committee also discussed the future role of WFSGI PAC and how it can best contribute to the ongoing efforts to tackle the global physical inactivity epidemic.

Legal Committee Meeting

The Legal Committee was discussing topics upon the state of play of ongoing WFSGI legal projects, especially WFSGI group action to fight against counterfeits in South East Asia as well as the WFSGI Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption task force.
Further on they were sharing knowledge among the legal experts, especially on WFSGI Code of Conduct change - including a provision on Business Ethics as well as Cross Border Sales and Selective Distribution options and the Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policy in Asia.
As a third topic they were discussing the interest in and understanding of current legal affairs/events around us, especially the emphasis on sport in the World Intellectual Property’s campaign as well as how sport companies prepare for Brexit and US-China tariff regulations and the impact on the Sporting Goods Industry.
Last but not least they were looking into the future for insights on Legal Artificial Intelligence, especially the Artificial Intelligence (AI) in legal and for the Sporting Goods Industry as well as the WFSGI group action to fight against counterfeits in South East Asia.

Trade Committee Meeting

The Trade Committee was discussing topics upon the review of EU trade preferences for Cambodia, Eu-Vietnam FTA, Labelling Requirement in Russia, the Update on WCO HS Code for Laminated Textile Case, the Brazil Footwear Case Review, the discussion on WFSGI Presence in Geneva, US Trade Measures on China, Miscellaneous and AOB.

CISO Committee Meeting

The CISO Committee discussed IOC relations (including Rule 40 and Rule 50), updates on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the NOC Uniform Support Programme for Tokyo, news and relations from the International Federations. The Committee also received a presentation from the International Paralympic Committee on the evolution of the Paralympic Games and the potential synergies for the industry.

Board Special Activity and Board Meeting
The Board was discussing upon the strategic goals and specific board topics.
