Shanghai Noir

This mask came from my mother-in-law. I'm not sure whether she picked it up herself on one of her many exotic trips or received it as a gift. All I know is that it used to sit in the living room and that I always liked it.

It also looks a little the way I feel these days. Pinched around the nose and my brain more wooden than normal. I've caught a cold and have been struggling to shake it off. I had to cancel all my appointments last week and, as a result, have little to tell you in this newsletter. And so, without further ado, here is this week's blog post: Lady Bankers. It's about the Shanghai Women's Bank, established in 1924, by women for women.

Since I've been spending so much time in bed, I've been reading faster than usual. Head for the Hills is my review of Tara Westover's memoir, Educated.

Hopefully, I'll regain my energy in time for the next newsletter.
