NOA Excellence in Orthopaedics Awards - DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES EXTENDED!

The deadline for the inaugural NOA Excellence in Orthopaedics Awards has been extended to 15 July 2022. Thank you to everyone who has already submitted an entry. The awards recognise NOA member organisations, projects and teams that have distinguished themselves through exemplary contributions, influence and commitment to transforming services across orthopaedics – both clinically and non-clinically.

The awards will take place on the evening of 19 October 2022 following the NOA Annual Members’ Conference. Find out more on our website. If you’re from an NOA member organisation, you can enter the awards here.

The second NOA Annual Members' Conference will take place in Birmingham on Wednesday 19 October 2022. Registration is now open so book now!

NOA hosts thought provoking webinar focussed on learning from never events and serious incidents

NOA’s latest webinar, Learning From Never Events and Serious Incidents, held on 25 May, brought together experts in orthopaedics, clinical negligence litigation, patient safety, and medical education to discuss an important topic on the health agenda.
The lunchtime session which had over 40 attendees, featured guest speakers including Lecturer in Law, John Tingle, from the University of Birmingham Law School and Mr Perbinder Grewal, a General and Vascular Surgeon, Human Factors & Patient Safety Trainer, and Emotional Intelligence Practitioner who leads on medical education both locally and nationally.

New metrics available for paediatric T&O surgery
Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) data to help NHS teams improve the care and outcomes of children undergoing trauma and orthopaedic surgery has been added to the Model Health System. A new compartment of clinical metrics for trauma and orthopaedic surgery on patients under 17 is now available via the improvement tool, giving trusts and systems the opportunity to gauge their own performance and benchmark against their peers in a large range of areas, such as treatment for clubfoot, knee procedures, fracture care and hip conditions like developmental dysplasia.
