What's New for AC2022:
5 Things to Note About North Georgia Annual Conference

We are thrilled to return to an in-person Annual Conference, but what else will be new in 2022? Here are a few things to expect:

#1 The Digital Handbook

There will not be printed Annual Conference Handbooks in 2022. That means that before arriving in Athens you should plan to print the Handbook or download it to your digital device for reference. Find the digital handbook and important additions and corrections at https://www.ngumc.org/handbook-2022

#2 Start here: Onsite Registration is on the lower level of the Classic Center near the Atrium

Onsite registration will be located in Grand Hall 5 (not the Foundry Building). This is where you will check in to receive your name badge and voting card.

Other notable new locations include:

  • Display Tables will be on the lower level of The Classic Center.
  • Clergy Executive Session will be in the Grand Hall.
  • The Service of Licensing, Commissioning, and Ordination will be in the Grand Hall. (CLERGY NOTE: Wear black robes and red stoles for this service.)

#3 Guests, Visitors, and Friends Are Invited to Watch Online

As we do our best to mitigate COVID-19 risks at the 2022 Annual Conference, in-person attendance is limited to members of the Conference. Visitors and guests are invited to watch all sessions via live stream at www.ngumc.org/AC2022

#4 Are You New?

First time-attendees to the North Georgia Annual Conference can learn about the Classic Center buildings and the city of Athens at an orientation on Thursday, June 2, 11-11:30 am in Parthenon 1.

#5 Sign Up for Texts

New this year, receive Annual Conference 2022 updates delivered straight to your phone! Text "AC2022" to 833-963-4294 to subscribe. (Normal text messaging rates apply. Text "STOP" to opt out. Text "HELP" for help.)

Safe Sanctuary Training

The SouthWest District is offering 2 upcoming opportunities for Safe Sanctuary Training.  Please remember that all churches must have a Safe Sanctuary policy and all staff and volunteers working with children, youth, and vulnerable adults must receive training.

Tuesday, July 19, 6-8pm at Griffin First - led by Rev. Debby Stikes; a light supper will be provided.

Sunday, July 24, 4-6pm at Pine Mountain First - led by Mimi Sanders

Please register for either workshop through the District Office (770-227-1074 or southwest@ngumc.net).  Deadline for registration is 3 days prior to each meeting.

Part Time Moving Pastor Meeting

All part time pastors in the SouthWest District who are moving to a new appointment are invited to a meeting on Tuesday, June 7 at 5:30pm.  There will be an in person option at the District Office in Griffin as well as a Zoom option.  At the meeting there will be general information for a successful transition and a review of paperwork  required for new appointments.  The SPR Chair and Treasurer of receiving churches are also invited to participate.  Because of limited space at the district office, in person participation is limited.  Please contact Denise Wilson to sign up for the in person or the Zoom option.  Zoom links will be emailed the day before the meeting.
