This is to announce that our baby girl arrived unexpectedly today on June 1st. She is 35 weeks/8 months old. She was scheduled to come on the 27th of June, but the Lord had different plans.
I prince was away teaching pastors in Kasese when Heidi woke up this morning with a lot of cramping and contractions. Our OBGYN tried to use some medicines to stop the contractions, but both mom and baby’s heart rates were dangerously low and they needed to act quickly and get the baby out. While I was making the 7 hour drive back to Kampala, our friend, David Yiga, was taking care of Heidi in my place, and Shalom was at home with the girls.
We praise God for the wonderful doctors that took care of Heidi. While the baby is considered a premie, she’s at a good weight of 5.8lbs. We have just met with the Peadetrician who just informed us that the cord was wrapped around her neck cutting off her supply, so it was good they acted quickly. Her lungs are not fully developed so she’s struggling to breathe and they have her on oxygen. It looks like she may need to be in the NICU for at least a week or more. The Peadetrician allowed me to take these three pictures.
Heidi’s mom was able to change her flight so Lord willing she will arrive on Friday night.
And because the baby came early we still haven’t decided on a name so stay tuned.
We would love your prayers for strength and healing for mommy and baby, and wisdom for me as I seek to care my wife and child. We are so thankful that we are walking this journey with our gentle shepherd.
Prince, Heidi & Baby? :-)
