Brett's coming to 5 cities. You decide which ones...

I love road trips.

And I've always loved the idea of a book tour—the multi-city trip an author takes to promote a new book after it releases. I think it'd be fun. are correct, my friend.

However, I have time and a story worth sharing and a grey Prius. Plus, I subscribe to Seth Godin's theory of picking yourself.

So I'm picking myself to go on a book tour. And since there is no book, I'm naming it the Bookless Tour. I'm going to visit five cities in 11 days (Jan 22 — Feb 1).

I'm glad you asked. Two reasons...

  1. Tons of you (over a thousand actually), have messaged me since this journey began. You've shared your stories, pain, & hopes, and it's been incredibly inspiring. So I want to meet as many of you as possible. I want hugs and coffees and glasses of red wine with you. I want to listen and learn from you.
  2. BBP was long. A lot of people told me they quit reading because the episodes were lengthy. I hate that, and I want the story to be available to everyone, including those who'd rather listen on their commute or jog. So, I'm releasing a free audio version of Blue Babies Pink—all 44 episodes—edited, polished up, and read by yours truly. I'll promote the audio version on the Bookless Tour as well.
Blue Babies Pink readers are scattered all over the country. Over 3,000 subscribe to the BBP-Mail list and another 50,000 have read some or all of the story.

It's hard to decide where to go, so I'm just not going to...
I'm going to let YOU, my loyal BBP readers, decide my tour stops.

And when I come to your city, you're going to teach me about your town. You're going to tell me where to get coffee and the best hamburger. We're going to swap stories, probably cry some, and laugh a lot.

It's going to be great fun.

I'd even like to gather other BBP readers in your city for a meetup. And, if someone has access to a free venue like a church or community center, I'd like to speak while I'm there as well.

So how can you ensure your city is one of the five stops on the Bookless Tour?

It's going to be a fundraiser, actually. But it's not for me. It's for a non-profit with a big vision.

Beloved Atlanta is the only two-year residential home & program for adult women surviving prostitution, trafficking, and addiction in Atlanta.

Sex trafficking is a massive problem and it is very, very ugly.

I've been on the board of Beloved Atlanta for several years. I've seen their work up close, and the founder is a good friend of mine. They are on the front lines of the battle, providing a safe haven for women to escape the sex industry and find healing.

Watching the transformation that happens when these women are loved and supported is unbelievable.

Their residents have been living in a tiny, run-down rental house for the last few years.

So about a year ago, we decided it was time to get a place of our own—a beautiful home that would be a place of peace and healing for these women who have been through so much.

And we launched a campaign to raise the funds for a house. I asked friends to give to the campaign and actually jumped out of a plane.
My friends and I raised a few thousand dollars.

In all, over $100,000 was raised. And last month, construction began on a beautiful new home in west Atlanta. There's wood and concrete and actual walls!
(That's Amelia on the right. She's the founder. Michelle, left, is the Program Director).

But, in the last year, our vision has grown. We no longer want one home for a few residents.

We want to build a freakin' neighborhood.

"Freakin' Neighborhood" is kinda aggressive, so we softened it up a bit for the 2016 end-of-year campaign. Our vision is to build "A Lovely Village"—a whole community of homes serving many women at once.

I'm asking you guys to give and support this cause.

This may be going out on a limb, but I think the BBP community can raise $10,000.
Yep, it's a lot. But I know we can do it.

My stops on the Bookless Tour are going to be based on which cities raise the most money for Beloved Atlanta.

So every dollar you give is a vote for your city.
  1. You can give securely here (more details about Beloved Atlanta there as well).
  2. I can only visit cities in the Lower 48 (unless you're super rich, and want to fly me to Hawaii or Dubai, in which case, I will make an exception).
  3. This is very important!
    • When you go to make a donation, click the box that says DEDICATE THIS DONATION.
    • Then select IN HONOR OF.
    • Then where it says NAME OF THIS PERSON, enter the name of your CITY and STATE (you can leave those two other fields blank).
    • If no city/state is entered, it will not count toward any city's total. NOTE: If you live in a small town that's near a bigger town, enter the name of the bigger town (I have no way of knowing that Sherwood, Arkansas, is actually a suburb of Little Rock. In that case, put Little Rock. If in doubt, put both.). And if you live in a little town in the middle of nowhere, that's fine too! Rep your city proudly.
  4. The deadline for giving is 11:59pm on December 31st. I hate fundraisers that go on forever. This one lasts less than 2 1/2 days, so you gotta give quick, folks! Not gonna drag this thing out.
  5. I will visit the top four cities that raise the most money. I get to pick the 5th city. I'll announce the five winning cities this Monday, January 2nd.
Okay, that's enough for now. Go give!

Vote for your city, support an A-MAZ-ING cause, and get that tax deduction!

If Blue Babies Pink has touched you in any way, I'm asking you to pass that love forward by supporting the women of Beloved. No amount is too small. Thank you! 👊

B.B.P.S. — I'll be calling anyone who gives over $100 to say thanks (include your phone number and email so I can follow up).
B.B.P.P.S. — There are still LOTS of tour details to figure out. Will be sharing more in the following days and how you can help promote the audio version of BBP.
B.B.P.P.P.S. — Just to be suuuuper clear, 100% of funds raised are going directly to Beloved Atlanta, a registered 501c3 in the state of Georgia. I am not managing the funds or receiving any of them in any way.
B.B.P.P.P.P.S - See you on...
