Happy Holidays DSAL!
As 2020 comes to an end, we want to express our deepest gratitude to all of our staff members, volunteers, and partners for making a challenging year a little bit better through their hard work, creativity, and innovation.
We kicked the year off with a grand opening celebration for our new Dig Deep Farms Food Hub, and who knew at the time how vital the Food Hub would be to providing fresh groceries and healthy meals during the COVID-19 crisis!
Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve delivered more than 80,000 bags of groceries, nearly 40,000 prepared meals for seniors, and 500 weekly Food as Medicine prescriptions for patients of the County’s Health Clinics. Our recreation staff moved programs online through video workouts and live, virtual dance and training sessions to keep the community moving during shelter-in-place. We also conducted more than 35,000 wellbeing check-ins with the youth who participate in our recreation activities to help moms and dads keep their kids healthy and active. Throughout the pandemic, we doubled down on our efforts to stay engaged with the people in our community by listening carefully and doing our best to be of service.
We don’t know what 2021 will bring, but we do know that we will continue in our efforts to build a stronger, safer, more just community for everyone.
Please be safe, and have a happy, healthy holiday and a joyful New Year.
