“Race and racism is a reality that so many of us grow up learning to just deal with. But if we ever hope to move past it, it can’t just be on people of color to deal with it. It’s up to all of us — Black, white, everyone — no matter how well-meaning we think we might be, to do the honest, uncomfortable work of rooting it out.” - Michelle Obama

As a Black man and father of Black children, I am deeply concerned about the ongoing and systematic racial challenges in this country. While I understand that it’s a process and change will take time,  small businesses like In3, catering to the Black community need to ensure we are job creators, our services cater to the community, and our programs reflect the economic trends. A community that is overwhelmingly black and a community that is already dealing with a tremendous amount of challenges due to structural racism that exists in our society needs a solution like Inclusive Innovation Incubator, which provides tech skills and entrepreneurial resources in addition to engaging education programs.

I am committed to continue to work on building the ecosystem and collectively making the changes we need, to provide welcoming spaces such as In3. In3 is vital as it's the only place in Washington DC designed, developed and managed for underrepresented and underserved communities. We aim to increase our outreach and support to the community as we continue our work at In3DC and beyond.

For the last three years we have worked hard to build a community that is intentionally focused on supporting  under-resources and underrepresented communities in our region who are predominantly Black entrepreneurs, technologists and creatives. We believe there are high potential individuals who are overlooked, ignored and marginalized, therefore, our objective is to provide programs and services they need to achieve their fullest potential to chart their own path, careers or business ventures.

We play a critical role in the ecosystem in Washington DC and are in a network of ecosystem builders in the US to address the disparity in opportunities and we are dedicated to work with Government, companies and communities to improve the lives of members of the community as it has been stated in the “Pathways To Inclusion Report”.

We look for ways to collaborate and amplify the work of organizations that are consistent in  fostering a diverse and inclusive innovative ecosystem in Washington DC and beyond.
