Improving Life on Planet Earth

When photographer William Anders snapped Earthrise more than fifty years ago, the world was forever changed. It reminded humans that our home is a fragile beauty, allowing us to gain new perspectives on our home planet from space.

Keeping Seas Safe and Sustainable, from Space

More good news from across the pond: We signed a deal with Satellite Applications Catapult (“the Catapult”) to launch the latest satellite in the Catapult’s In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) program into space from the United Kingdom later this year.

The satellite, called Amber-1, is a partnership between the Catapult and Horizon Technologies. Built by AAC Clyde Space in Scotland, it will be launched on our historic flight from Spaceport Cornwall this year.

Amber-1 is expected to be the first of 20+ planned Amber™ satellites to provide Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) data to users. This important technology provides information on the tracking and prevention of illegal fishing, smuggling, trafficking, piracy, and terrorism.
