"Helped are those who love the entire cosmos rather than their own tiny country, city, or farm, for to them will be shown the unbroken web of life and the meaning of infinity."        - Alice Walker

A New Chapter Begins

On October 2nd, Amma Thanasanti departed for California via the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. The day before she left, we had a lovely gathering at Shakti Vihara. Many friends, both new and old, came to wish Amma well on her journey and to offer their support to Sister Dhammadhira as she stays on in Colorado Springs. Amma and Shanti Ajeet, a good friend of ours, got an early start on the road as the moving van pulled out of the drive at 4am. May their journey into natures beauty be a nourishing and inspiring start of the new chapter ahead.

During the gathering there was time for all who wished to share the impact of their involvement with Amma over the past seven years. Wonderful stories and memories were offered with appreciation. For myself, Amma has been a companion on the path, offering her support in many ways. From the start, she opened her doors to me and encouraged me to find my own unique way of being alive in the Dharma. It has been a wonderful opportunity for growth to share this time with Amma. I trust that our friendship will continue to grow even over the distance.

Thanks to all who helped with packing, offering supplies and donations and sending good wishes.

Fall Schedule of Classes

Spirituality for a world in crisis: How do ancient spiritual teachings relate to contemporary issues such as climate change, poverty, population growth and social justice? Explore these and other related issues with people who care about the world and its inhabitants.

More about the “Grow the Community” Fund

This fund has been established for the sole purpose of community development.  Because our aim is to develop a community site and not just a temporary residence for one person, it is essential that we keep our long-term goal in mind.

Imagine how your life would benefit from....
A place where teachers can offer various types of classes for
youth and adults.

A place where dialogue and significant issues can be addressed
in workshops or retreats.

A place where visitors can walk the beautifully landscaped and sustainable grounds, taking time to relax and contemplate in nature.

A place where guests can stay

and interns can study

A place to come and find nourishment

for body, mind and heart

All of this and more can happen with our sustained efforts and commitment.

By doing what each of us can to support,
we can reach our goal and realize our vision.

Together, we can make a positive difference in this world!
