Between threats of eviction, delays in renovation and the absence of a clear horizon, displacement appears to be the main stage feature to the fate of the residents of the areas affected by the August 4 blast. This detailed report on the housing situation in the areas affected by the explosion of the Port of Beirut includes the reports that residents sent to the Housing Monitor, in addition to analysis and data based on several field research conducted by Public Works Studio at three different times: several years ago, in the few months following the explosion, and nearly a year after the disaster. The report details the repercussions of the blast and the renovation and aid interventions that followed on housing security. It highlights the emergence of new patterns of practices threatening housing security that are directly related to the consequences of destruction, rehabilitation and compensation in the absence of an effective role of the state.
