THIS SUNDAY

11:00 a.m. Online Zoom Worship Service

Worship Service
Rev. Paul Johnson, “Manageable Marks of Maturity”

Our UU principle calling us to encourage each other in our spiritual growth draws on the tradition of “self- culture” and “salvation by character” established by such forebears as Margaret Fuller, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and James Freeman Clarke. My sermon will develop my personal, contemporary take on this worthy tradition. I appreciated the fact that so many of you were present for last Sunday's service and look forward to seeing you this Sunday as well. Paul

This Sunday we will be hosting our worship service and coffee hour on Zoom. Here are the details:

2021 Annual Pledge/Mission Funding Drive

In this time of social distancing, the annual pledge drive is happening virtually.  Have you returned your pledge yet?  It's so easy to set it aside, thinking “I'll get to it,” and then it lingers or gets buried with other papers.  We will be setting the 2021 budget for UUCJ soon, and the Board and Finance Team need to have a sense of the congregation's response to this year's Mission Funding Pledge drive.  This beloved community is involved in so much that is good about Jacksonville—your pledge funds the reasons for our existence, as well as helping us to create a supportive, active, and connected community for all of our members and friends.

You can pledge by mailing your pledge form to the church office, or by going to the UUCJ website at

BUDGET “SUMMIT” MEETING
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 10:00-11:30

The UUCJ Finance Team has been working hard to develop the projected budget for 2021.

As in prior years, the “asks” from our various hard-working committees have exceeded our likely income projections.  The Finance Team has scheduled a Budget “Summit” to review requests and develop a balanced budget for the upcoming year.

Members and friends of UUCJ are invited to participate in this process, via Zoom, and provide your input.  (Or just watch, if that’s your preference.)  We value your comments and perspectives, which will help the Finance Team and Board to determine priorities for UUCJ during this planning process.

Below is the Zoom invitation for this important meeting:

This week's topicRose Ann Beason presents “Money & Power: the JEA story”

We all use plastic baggies—for lunches, leftovers, freezer storage, and many other things. Do you always throw them in the trash after a single use? Well, they are real easy to clean by turning them inside out and rinsing with water and using soap when needed. Find a place to let them dry, and they can be re-used many times. Not only will this save you money, it will work toward saving our environment. Everything you do helps.
Looking for the member directory? Event Zoom information? Your contribution data? Or do you need to update your contact info?
