Embodied Labs is in the finals!

EdSim Challenge Finalists

We are incredibly honored to be selected among the EdSim Challenge finalists! The honor comes with a $50,000 grant and the chance to compete against the four other well-deserving finalists for $430,000 more this fall. These grants would help us accelerate our production and content creation for our software, and allow us to provide the best learning tools for 21st-century skills.

The call for submissions was put out last year by the U.S. Dept of Education to encourage the creation of simulations that address Career Ready Practices for Career Technical Education programs. Over the next three months, we will be refining our platform and prototype to be particularly applicable for these learners. We are excited to be a part of this challenge and head to Washington D.C. for the finals!

Our Pilot Study Results Are In

In early January, we concluded our pilot study of The Alfred Lab with the second year medical students at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Some of our findings include:
  • The Alfred Lab makes medical students almost 10% more likely to report an interest in entering geriatrics as a specialty
  • The Alfred Lab reduces stereotyping of aging adults by an average of 60%
  • The Alfred Lab embodiment experience led over 95% of medical students to agree that simulation could teach them concepts important to their future careers.
We greatly enjoyed working with UIC's College of Medicine and their faculty. See the full results and more details about our study by downloading the white paper on our website.

VR Hospital London Showcase

In April, Embodied Labs went international and traveled to London! We participated in the "VR Hospital" at the Virtual Reality Show in the Business Centre of London. Our CEO, Carrie Shaw, presented two different talks on Embodied Labs and VR in education and enterprise. It was amazing to meet other VR companies from around the world and we look forward to coming back in 2018.

Vision Summit Presentation in LA

Carrie Shaw was invited to speak at Unity's Vision VR/AR Summit in Los Angeles, CA on May 2nd. During her talk, Carrie gave a demo of our software and presented to a packed house about simulation and the human experience. It was exciting to attend the conference and share Embodied Labs with so many other VR/AR enthusiasts. Until next year.
