Dear Members,

This time of year always makes me a little bit homesick for Pennsylvania….the leaves changing color in the Pocono Mountains is a glorious sight!  Thanksgiving dinner at my Nannie’s house, spending time with my brothers and sisters, hearing my nieces and nephews play(argue), and of course no one makes a better pumpkin cheesecake than my Mom.  I am thankful to have found another family here in Wiesbaden, I have met some incredible ladies over the past four years! Now my family and I have added different traditions…Thanksgiving Day spent at a Christmas Market, ”Black Friday” pottery shopping, and gluwein to name just a few.

I am thankful that you have all chosen to be a part of the WCSC!  I’m so happy that you’ve decided to join us each month for luncheons, Activities, clubs and more. The WCSC is such a great organization, but what keeps it going is the participation of all of its members - each and every one of you!

Please join us for our Annual Wreath and Tree Auction luncheon on November 16th, this is such a great way to raise funds that go directly back into our community through WCSC Grants and Scholarships.  Reservation deadline is November 9th, get your reservations in early since this is one of our most popular luncheons!

Thank you so much for all of your donations at our October Coat Drive, you have certainly helped “Share the Warmth”!  Our Community Outreach Chair, Meagan, is getting ready to deliver all of the coats/hats/gloves/scarves to the Elim Mission in Poland.  Once again, I am so proud of our WCSC community!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Alicia Bailey

WCSC President

Wreath & Tree Auction and Opportunity Drawings

The Annual Wreath and Tree Auction is happening this month at our Spouse’s Club Luncheon. We have more than 20 exciting entries from individuals or organizations in our community. Some sample themes this year include: The JOY of Chocolate, Spa day, Flohmarkt Treasures, Patriotic Wreath, Polish Pottery, Legos and Disney to name a few. The LIVE auction is a lot of fun and raises money for a great cause…our community! Last year we raised over $4000.00 for our community in the form of Welfare grants, gifts and Academic Scholarships. If you or your group would like to participate as well, contact Pamela at

Priscilla Proper

Seasons' Salutations Daahlings! I trust your upcoming holiday season is beginning to look a lot like mine! Full and Fabulous!  Be that as exciting as it is, I have, on a few occasions encountered a bit of confusion regarding what to do with our Les Petites while attending the many social obligations presented to us here in Wiesbaden. A lovely gal recently wrote in asking that very question. Read on!!
Dear Priscilla,
As grateful as I am for the numerous invitations to attend all the social gatherings, I just don't know when it is and is not appropriate to bring along my children. Can you help?
Party Perplexed
Dear Party,
Your inquiry is a simple one my dear! Children are invited and included only when they are specifically invited! Newborns and "lap babies" seem to be the exception these days but even then, the most polite thing to do is to check with your hostess PRIOR to the event. There will always be unit events, picnics and other child-friendly functions that heartily encourage you to bring your children. However, coffees, hail & farewells, luncheons and receptions and the like really are for the grown-ups. And don't think another thought about  being unable to attend due to childcare complications. Your hostess will understand and appreciate your discretion. And you will surely be included in future invitations!
Too late, you say? Relax sweetie, we've all been there and no matter what, it's always best to be gracious and sincere in your ways than perfectly precise!

Until next month,
Daahlings! do you have a protocol question for our Priscilla Proper? Just email her at  and check back next month for her answer.
