Ashley Alder
Chief Executive Officer

Ashley is the Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong. He was first appointed in October 2011. In May 2016, Ashley was elected as Chair of the Board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), and was re-elected for a further two-year term in June 2020.

Ashley was previously Chair of the IOSCO Asia-Pacific Regional Committee and Vice Chair of the IOSCO Board. Ashley has represented IOSCO as a member of the Financial Stability Board Steering Committee and Plenary since his election as IOSCO Board Chair.

Ashley started his career as a lawyer in London in 1984. He moved to Hong Kong in 1989 with the international law firm Herbert Smith, practicing corporate and business law. He was Executive Director of Corporate Finance at the SFC from 2001 to 2004, before returning to Herbert Smith, where he became head of the firm’s Asia Region.
Dominic Bokor-Ingram

Dominic joined the Frontier markets team at Fiera Capital in 2013 and co-manages the Frontier Markets, MENA and OAKS strategies.

He previously held a series of senior positions at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and, from 2006, Renaissance Capital, the EMEA investment bank operating in high opportunity emerging and frontier markets. With over 30 years of industry experience, Dominic began his career in financial services in 1989, initially specialising in closed-end funds and then, from 1992, in emerging markets. Between 1995 and 2002 Dominic worked for Regent Pacific, from which Fiera Capital was demerged, where he was responsible for managing 23 Eastern European funds.

Dominic is an economics and statistics graduate from the University of Exeter.
Chin Hau Boon

Chin Hau joined the GIC Infrastructure Group in 2008 and currently has lead coverage responsibility for the Emerging Markets.

Prior to joining GIC, Chin Hau was an Investment Manager at Pulsar Energy Capital, where he invested in projects across the energy sector in Europe and the Americas. Before Pulsar, Chin Hau was a member of the Infrastructure advisory team at Credit Suisse covering a range of projects in transport, logistics and aerospace. He began his career at Singapore Power where he managed natural gas pipeline projects.

Chin Hau has degrees from Imperial College London and the University of Chicago.
Frances Chang

Ms. Chia-Yue Chang has more than 30 years of experience in the asset and wealth management industry with in-depth knowledge about developing business in a dynamic financial world. Prior to 2004, she worked in various executive positions at Kwang Hua Securities Investment & Trust Co., Ltd. and entities affiliated with Jardine Fleming Investment in Taiwan, and she was also the convener of the Business Development Committee of Taiwan Investment Trust and Investment Advisory Association. During this time, Ms. Chang led the launch of the sustainable investment fund, Kwang-Hua Global Fund, and began to explore the varied practices of responsible investment in both primary and secondary markets.
 
Between 2004 and June 2011, Ms. Chia-Yue Chang served as the Chairman of ABN AMRO Xiangcai Fund Management Company, Vice Chairman of ABN AMRO TEDA Fund Management Co., Ltd, CEO of ABN AMRO Asset Management China, and the CEO for Greater China and South East Asia regions of Robeco Hong Kong Ltd. During this period, she actively promoted Robeco’s ESG funds such as Clean Energy, Water, and Healthy Living and the collaboration with RobecoSAM’s research project on Dow Jones Sustainability Indices.
 
In July 2011, Ms. Chia-Yue Chang, an angel investor of Noah Holdings with her global vision and experiences in wealth management, joined Noah as CEO for Noah Upright Fund Distribution Co., Ltd., and later on became the CMO for the group.  Since 2014, she initiated the annual release of Noah’s Sustainability Report to better represent Noah's progress and achievements in sustainability. In 2020, both Noah Holdings Limited and Gopher Asset Management joined the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI), aiming to further pursue sustainable practices, deliver long-term social momentum, and create sustainable value for our investors.  Currently, she sit on three Committee of Noah Holdings including Sustainability Committee, Client Interest Committee and Ethics and compliance Committee as the Chairperson.
Kim Chong

Kim heads up the Risk Unit of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) from August 2015.

He is responsible for risk management relating to the investment portfolios of the HKMA. He is also responsible for performance measurement of the overall investment portfolio. His team is responsible for ESG research and implementation.
Thomas Deinet

Thomas Deinet was appointed Executive Director of the Standards Board for Alternative Investments (SBAI) in September 2008. In 2007, Thomas joined the Hedge Fund Working Group to project manage the development of practice standards proposed by a group of 14 leading hedge fund managers that led to the establishment of the SBAI (then known as the HFSB).

Before joining the SBAI, Thomas was a senior manager at Oliver Wyman, a management consulting firm, where he extensively worked with major financial institutions in Europe in both asset management as well as corporate and investment banking. He joined Oliver Wyman in 2002 after working as an analyst in energy trading for a major commodities trading firm.

Thomas is a regular speaker at hedge fund and regulatory conferences, and represents the SBAI at the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

He is a holder of a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany and an MSc from Purdue University, USA. Thomas Deinet is a CFA charterholder.
Andrew Fong

Andrew Fong is the President of BAM for Asia, based in our Hong Kong office. He is also a member of the firm's Management Committee.

Bringing over 26 years of experience, Andrew joined BAM in January 2021 from Citadel, where he was most recently a Senior Advisor, covering Asia Pacific. During his 15-year tenure at Citadel, Andrew held a number of other senior leadership roles including serving as the Chief Administrative Officer for over 10 years, responsible for the overall management oversight for the region, and as the General Counsel responsible for the legal, compliance and regulatory affairs functions for Asia Pacific. Prior to Citadel, he was a Senior Legal Counsel at Deutsche Bank responsible for overseeing the legal function for its equities business for Asia ex Japan.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Laws with honors from King's College London, and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
Tomoyuki Furusawa

Mr. Furusawa joined the Ministry of Finance in April, 1986 after the graduation of Law Faculty of Tokyo University.

Between 2011 and 2013, he was in charge of designing Japanese financial market regulations including insider-trading regulations and OTC derivatives reforms as the Director of Financial Markets Division. 

Between 2013 and 2015, he was in charge of the liaison with the Diet and he supported parliamentary debates concerning financial regulations as the Director of Policy and Legal Division. 

Between 2016 and 2018, he was in charge of corporate disclosure, accounting and corporate governance, as the Deputy Director-General of the Policy & Markets Bureau.

Between 2019 and 2020, he was in charge of market oversight, investigations and inspections, and enforcement actions as the Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission.

Since July, 2020, he has been in the current position.
Chris Gradel

PAG’s Absolute Returns business is led by Chris Gradel, who founded PAG in 2002.

Mr. Gradel has over 20 years of investment experience across Asia. Prior to founding PAG, Mr. Gradel led several investments for the Marmon Group in China and was an engagement manager for McKinsey & Co. based in Hong Kong.

Mr. Gradel has a master’s degree in engineering, economics and management from Oxford University.  He is a member of the board of trustees of the Standards Board for Alternative Investments (SBAI), the hedge fund industry’s global standard-setting body. Mr. Gradel is also a member of the investment committee of Oxford University Endowment Management and a Wykeham Fellow of New College, Oxford.
Theresa Han
Managing Director, Absolute Return Strategies

Ms. Han is the strategy head for Asia and other globally oriented strategies, serves on the Global Investment Council and is located in the Hong Kong office.

Prior to joining GCM Grosvenor, she was a Managing Director at China Investment Corporation, where she co-managed the hedge fund allocation portfolio. Previously, she was an Investment Officer with Alternative Investment Solutions of UBS Global Asset Management with responsibilities in manager research and operational due diligence in Asia. Prior to joining UBS, she was an Associate Fund Manager with Value Partners Hong Kong, responsible for the research and investment of Hong Kong listed shares and China B shares. Prior to Value Partners, she served as a Manager with the Licensing Division of the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong. She began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in the audit division as a Senior Accountant.

Ms. Han holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy from Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is a qualified accountant and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst® designations.
Dr. Liang Hong

Dr. Liang Hong is a Partner and the Director of the Institute of Innovation and Industry Studies at Hillhouse Capital Management.

Before joining Hillhouse in June 2020, Dr. Liang worked at China International Capital Corporation (CICC) between 2008 until end-May 2020, was a member of the firm’s Management Committee since 2014, and served various roles including the head of Research Department, the head of Capital Markets Department, and co-head of Sales and Trading Department. Dr. Liang joined CICC from Goldman Sachs (Asia) L.L.C. where she served as the Managing Director, and the chief China economist & Co-head of Asian Pacific Economic Research during 2003 - 2008. Before that, she worked at the International Monetary Fund as an economist from 1998 to 2003.  

Ms. Liang obtained her Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University in 1998, and her bachelor degree from Peking University in 1991. She has published widely in both academic as well as leading business journals on exchange rate issues and the Chinese economy. 
Richard Johnston

Richard joined Albourne in September 2004 to set up and head their Asian region providing both research on Asian based managers and consulting services to investors.  Albourne Partners Limited is a leading UK based independent alternative investment advisory firm representing over 300 clients with an estimate of over $550bn allocated to alternatives.  Albourne Partners Limited was established in 1994 and has 459 employees in 11 offices around the world.

Richard spent the previous eleven years with UBS AG in Hong Kong and Singapore, in various senior positions managing equity proprietary trading, convertible bonds and prime brokerage in the region. Prior to this, he was with Baring Securities in London and Tokyo, specialising in arbitrage trading and risk management.

Richard graduated in Computer Science from Manchester University, UK in 1981 and was admitted as a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales in 1985. 
Danny Kiang

Dan Kiang is currently Managing Director and has been with Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan for more than 7 years.  He heads up High Conviction Equities group in Asia that covers all public equities and late stage private/near public investments.  He is also a member of the Global Investment Committee for High Conviction Equities Group.

Dan has more than 20 years of experience investing in Asia having started his career as an investment banker with Merrill Lynch in New York.  Before joining Teachers, he was Managing Director at Mount Kellett Asia and before Mount Kellett, he was a Director at Merrill Lynch Asia responsible for its corporate principal investments in the Greater China region.  

Dan received a Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude in Economics with a Certificate in East Asian Studies from Princeton University.  He is fluent in English and Mandarin.
 
Howard Lee

Howard Lee is responsible for monetary management, financial stability surveillance and reserves management. 

He joined the HKMA in 2009 as a Division Head and has worked in various other areas including banking policy, corporate services, financial infrastructure and fintech. He was appointed as a Deputy Chief Executive on 1 January 2018.

Prior to joining the HKMA, Mr Lee worked in the Hong Kong SAR Government in areas relating to economic development, financial services and other public policies.
Susan Lee

Susan Lee is Partner and Investment Due Diligence Analyst for Asian hedge funds and private credit funds at Albourne Partners.

Previously Susan worked as Portfolio Management Analyst at Pacific Alternative Asset Management, a fund of hedge funds in Irvine, California. Susan began her career at a fixed income desk at Lehman Brothers covering Asian central banks and institutional clients.

She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Mathematics from the University of Canterbury (NZ). She is fluent in English and Korean, and is based in Hong Kong.

Ted Lee is Managing Director at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board overseeing the development of their Asia Pacific exposure. Prior to joining CPP Investments he was a Managing Director at Blackstone in the Funds of Hedge Fund Solutions team based in Hong Kong, where he had been involved in Asian hedge fund manager evaluation, selection and monitoring. He also served on BAAM's Investment Committee.

Mr. Lee received a BS in Accounting and International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Lee is Chairman of the APAC Committee of the Standards Board for Alternative Investments (SBAI).
Daisy Liang

Ms. Daisy Liang is a Partner and Head of Global Business Development of Perseverance Asset Management. She is in charge of the firm’s global fund raising and investor relations, and also serves as the CEO of Perseverance’s Singapore entity.

Ms Liang has over 15 years of experience in asset management industry and capital market, previously serving as Director and Head of Investor Relations and Business Development, Asia Pacific of Gresham Investment Management and Vice President of Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Sales and Trading Department.

Ms. Liang holds an MBA and an M.A. in Education from Stanford University, a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Minor degree in English from Tsinghua University.
Maria Long
Research and Content Director

Maria Long joined the SBAI as Research & Content Director in August 2020. She is responsible for content development and co-ordination of the ongoing and future working groups on a wide variety of topics, including governance, insurance linked strategies, standardisation of disclosure, valuation, alternative credit, responsible investment, asset management regulation and compliance as well as new topics to be determined in the future.

Prior to the SBAI, Maria spent 12 years at Man FRM, most recently in Operational Due Diligence (2015-2020) and before that as Head of FRM Middle Office (2008-2015). Maria also has worked in Fund Administration in Dublin and in Operations at Investment Managers in London.

Maria received an BSc Natural Sciences (Astronomy & Planetary Science) with First Class Honours in 2017 from The Open University.
Sidney Ma

Sidney Ma is the Head of Investor Relations for Springs Capital (Hong Kong) Limited.

He has been in the financial industry since 2005 and he joined Springs Capital in March 2013. Previously, he worked at CICC Asset Management, Frontier Asia Capital, Adept Capital and Astor Securities specializing in capital raising. He originates from Hong Kong and was educated in the UK from an early age.  
 
An alumnus of Cass Business School (MSc Management), Sidney also possesses a Bachelor of Sciences from University College London (UCL). He is a member of the Young Leaders Circle at the Milken Institute and based in Hong Kong.
Richard Manley

Richard leads the team responsible for integrating consideration of environmental, social and governance, including climate risks and opportunities across CPPIB's investment programs.

Prior to joining CPP Investments in 2019, Richard spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was most recently Global Head of Thematic Equity and ESG Research, and Co-Head of EMEA Equity Research. Previously, he worked at Merrill Lynch, Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, and Paribas Capital Markets as an Integrated Oil & Gas equity analyst.

Richard holds a Graduado Superior/BA (Hons) in European Business Administration from ICADE in Madrid.
Mario Therrien

Mario Therrien leads CDPQ’s investment funds activities. The teams he oversees invest in private investment funds and credit in private markets, as well as in venture capital in Québec and internationally. They are also responsible for external management in equity markets, as well as developing and managing strategic and institutional relationships. His mandate consists of adding value by building portfolios with the best external managers, while improving in-house management through the sharing of knowledge and expertise. He sits on the Investment-Risk Committee.

Prior to this role, Mr. Therrien was Senior Vice-President and Head of Strategic Partnerships, Developed Markets. He joined CDPQ in 1993 as an Analyst before taking on the role of Portfolio Manager in the group responsible for absolute return activities. Subsequently, he was mandated to develop external management activities in liquid-asset classes.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Finance from Université de Sherbrooke. He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course given by the Canadian Securities Institute, and is a CFA charter holder.
Greg Yanco
Executive Director, Markets
Australian Securities and Investments Commission



 
Greg has primary responsibility for ASIC’s Markets group. In this role, he oversees the Market Infrastructure, Market Supervision, Corporations, Financial Reporting and Audit, Governance and Registered Liquidators teams, and works closely with the Markets Enforcement team. The Markets group is focused on improving the effectiveness of Australia’s capital markets. It also supports efficient capital raising, investment and risk management. Additionally, Greg oversees ASIC’s work to regulate corporations, auditors of disclosing entities, registered company auditors and registered liquidators.

Greg has more than 30 years of experience and extensive experience in financial market development, regulation and supervision. Before joining ASIC, he was the CEO of AXE ECN Pty Limited. Previously Greg was the manager of institutional and wholesale markets at the Australian Stock Exchange where he implemented equity market structure changes and managed the operations of the market surveillance and investigations units.
Bonnie Yu

Bonnie Yu, CFA, FRM is overseeing the development of CDPQ’s external portfolio management program within the Asia Pacific region. Ms. Yu joined CDPQ in 2008 and has been based in Singapore since 2015.

Prior to CDPQ, she worked at Desjardins Securities and HSBC Securities specializing in public equities and options trading.

Ms. Yu holds an MBA in Investment Management from Concordia University.
