Message from the Executive Director

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

As we move into summer in Ontario, we are aware that recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic is the priority for research and innovation in our community. For a limited time, we are waiving project fees for collaborations between an SME partner and a SOSCIP member institution. Proposals can be submitted until July 31, 2020 and are open to all industry and research disciplines.  We recognize many industry sectors are facing challenging times, and we are aiming to reduce any barriers for your organization to continue to expand your research and innovation capacity.

SOSCIP is pleased to inform our community that we have initiated big changes to better support and accommodate short term projects (6 to 12 months). As part of our progressive evolution in SOSCIP 3.0, short term projects are now more accessible than ever.

We have also updated the Projects database (outbound link) on our website and included a new page explaining the Lifecycle of a SOSCIP Project (outbound link).

We have an upcoming event to let you know about. Two SOSCIP team members (Meredith McLaren and Fei Mao) will be panellists for an OBIO-hosted event on June 9th entitled “HPCs for Health Science companies”. This event takes place Tuesday, June 9, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM EDT.

We have an Impact Story to share with you featuring Dr. Jeff Defoe from the University of Windsor discussing his collaboration with MDS Aero Support Corp. in Ottawa.

Finally, we are very pleased to announce that SOSCIP and our partner Mitacs are currently hiring a new shared AI/Data Science Business Development Director. Please spread the word in your network about this exceptional opportunity to help drive commercial adoption of AI and Data Science technologies.

Wishing you health, wellness and good spirits,
Tibor Turi, Ph.D. P.Eng.
Executive Director, SOSCIP Consortium

SOSCIP's COVID-19 Response and Recovery initiative

Change to Short Term Projects
Short Term Projects More Accessible Than Ever

SOSCIP is happy to announce a new initiative to better support and accommodate short term projects (6 to 12 months). This move is part of our transition towards SOSCIP 3.0, and makes sure that shorter projects are now more accessible than ever, with an emphasis on fast turn-around time and immediate commercial benefit. We have already received positive feedback on this change, and we are certain that it will prove invaluable in attracting more industrial and post-secondary research institutions onto our platforms. For more information on how these changes can benefit you, contact us by clicking on the SOSCIP logo above or on this link.
