Profile of a Dancer (or 2)

Connor and Hannah Eaton

Hannah met Michael at a marriage workshop at the Gottman Institute and struck up a conversation about the parallels between partnership dance and the health of couples relationships. She had always been interested in the “language” of physical development, and how dance can enhance real life partnership.

Hannah manages the psycho educational programs at the Gottman Institute, a premier research-based institute for couple counseling. She has a clinical MFT practice and is the founder/CEO of Sequoia Immersions, which provides luxury outdoor retreats focused on improving relationships between couples. She clearly understands what is important to nurture and sustain partnerships.

Connor, similarly, has multiple jobs. He is a production manager for Luna Sandals, a small minimalist running sandal company. He also does research/data management for the Gottman Institute, and is transitioning back into school for machine learning.

Connor likes music and movement and Hannah has a background in dance, from jazz to ballet, and they have both taken couples ballroom classes.

Since both of them have the professional experience and interest in healthy relationships, they took the time to train with Michael. In their words, Flow’s methods are the most “fluent” in teaching “dance as the universal physical language of humanity”.

Primarily the couple dances at Flow to learn structure and to feel confident in improvising within a framework, keeping their minds out of it. For Connor, it’s been a hurdle to get over being embarrased while dancing in front of others, but he tries to focus on his partner and the music, and to trust their ability as lead and follow.

Connor loves the “elegance of the waltz. The refinement of the music and the big sweeping movements across the entire floor really captivate” him. He once saw a boy in New Orleans slide 15 feet on his head perfectly timed to music. Hence, both he and Hannah aspire to utilize more acrobatics in partner dance.

Flow’s curriculum is finished!

8 years of intensive R&D has reached fruition and the curriculum is finished and ready to be shared with you!  Here is the curriculum outline:

Discovery Program
We develop a basic and complete understanding in partnership dance, feeling good and having fun, dancing in any situation, to all music.

Part 1:   8 Private Sessions & Unlimited Group Classes
  • Identify and develop our connections within the 3 relationships of dance.
  • Train to understand the general science and how partnership dance works.
~We can now create our flow and dance, a skill we can enjoy anywhere~
Part 2:   8 Private Sessions & Unlimited Group Classes
  • Build deeper connections within our 3 relationships of dance.
  • Learn specific moves and connect to specific timings in music.
~We can create and sustain our flow, feeling and showing how exciting partner dance can be~
Fluency Program
We build a deep understanding within the relationships of dance, learning the principles and building blocks to flow.  We embody the science behind dancing and turn it into art, utilizing it at our will.  Our movement is masterful, and we can lead/follow our partners through anything.  Compare it to holding an organic verbal conversation, but it’s physical.  Our dancing feels both thrilling & powerful.  6-24 months
With the Fluency Program we can include different styles of dance, i.e. Waltz, Swing, Salsa, Tango, etc.

~Dance Manual~
I’m excited to share the training manual for both the Discovery and Fluency programs!  These tools give you a clear vision of what you're learning, where your dance journey is going, and now you can learn and practice at home!!  They will be ready for handing out mid-January.  This is the next step in teaching the world how to dance, physically communicate, and develop flow.  Thank you sincerely for being part of this journey.
New Cancellation Policy
Please give us a 12-hour notice or attempt to reschedule within the week.  Late cancellations will be charged with discretion.
