The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has started construction to improve the safety of Exit 40B Merritt Parkway southbound onto Creeping Hemlock Drive in Norwalk.
The project is independent of the ongoing 7/15 Norwalk Project (http://7-15norwalk.com/).
Construction work will consist of safety improvements, resurfacing, landscape enhancements, and bridge improvements on the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) in the City of Norwalk and Town of Westport, between Exits 40 and 41. The project includes the extension and improvement of the deceleration lane at Exit 40B. Removal of invasive and other vegetation is expected to occur in this area starting the week of August 9th, 2021. Re-planting of the area is expected to occur in the Spring of 2022.
Coordination between the safety improvement project and the future Route 7/15 interchange project is ongoing. The Route 7/15 interchange project will likely reconfigure a portion of this area and will also have an extensive landscape plan.
