Walking the streets of China offers all sorts of surprises. Like this row of jolly men standing outside a packed restaurant in Suzhou. 

Suzhou is the hometown of my heroine Anyi and her brother Kang in my novel, The Dancing Girl and the Turtle. Women from Suzhou were once prized as courtesans for their soft accents. How do I know? Check out this week's post.
