Coronavirus Update

Cymraeg 👇

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has continued to spread across the UK in recent days causing unprecedented disruption to  our lives. Following the latest government advice and looking realistically at the likely circumstances for the coming months, the Get Creative steering group members have made the responsible decision to end promotion of the Get Creative Festival. We will no longer be listing, promoting, or encouraging events taking place from 9th to 17th May 2020.

We will instead be concentrating our efforts on supporting the public to creatively express themselves through #GetCreativeAtHome. At this extremely challenging time, we believe that the power of creativity to unite people and support them to maintain good mental health is more important than ever. We know that many people across the UK will be facing long periods of isolation and anxiety in the coming weeks and having a creative outlet will be incredibly important in helping people to find meaning, purpose and connection.

The power of the Get Creative campaign has always come from the support of the cultural sector, independent artists, community groups and grassroots practitioners. By working together in recent years, we have shared the joys and positive benefits of creativity with a huge mainstream audience. We aim to do this again now, with our unique partnership allowing us to amplify the great work being done by people and organisations to share ways members of the public can get creative in the current circumstances.

Like many of you, we are working as quickly as we can to refocus our efforts and find ways to make a positive difference while understanding the difficulties facing staff and partners. We will do our best to work with all of you to bring creativity into the lives of people across the UK in the coming weeks.

We want to share your tips, tutorials, projects and ideas through #GetCreativeAtHome and across our partnership. We are excited by the potential of the plans announced by BBC Arts in their ‘Culture in Quarantine’ statement. Our partners in broadcast media have an important role to play in engaging the public in creative activities at this time. Further plans will be announced very shortly and we hope that we can offer a platform, and support, to everyone who would like to help sustain creative engagement in the coming weeks.

Remember, if you need coronavirus information, or are concerned about potential symptoms, see the NHS guidance or call 111. Do not go to your GP or to A&E if you have symptoms. Stay home, stay safe and follow official guidance from GOV.UK.

Yn hytrach, byddwn yn canolbwyntio ein hymdrechion ar gynorthwyo'r cyhoedd i fynegi eu hunain yn greadigol trwy #CeriGreuCartref. Ar yr adeg heriol hon, credwn fod pŵer creadigrwydd i uno pobl a'u cefnogi i gynnal iechyd meddwl da yn bwysicach nag erioed. Rydym yn gwybod y bydd llawer o bobl ledled y DU yn wynebu cyfnodau hir o unigedd a phryder yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf a bydd cael allfa greadigol yn hynod bwysig wrth helpu pobl i ddod o hyd i ystyr, pwrpas a chysylltiad.

Mae pŵer yr ymgyrch Cer i Greu bob amser wedi dod o gefnogaeth y sector diwylliannol, artistiaid annibynnol, grwpiau cymunedol ac ymarferwyr lleol. Trwy weithio gyda'n gilydd yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf, rydym wedi rhannu llawenydd a buddion cadarnhaol creadigrwydd gyda chynulleidfa enfawr. Ein nod yw gwneud hyn eto nawr, gyda'n partneriaeth unigryw yn caniatáu inni ymhelaethu ar y gwaith gwych sy'n cael ei wneud gan bobl a sefydliadau i rannu ffyrdd y gall aelodau'r cyhoedd fod yn greadigol yn yr amgylchiadau presennol.

Fel llawer ohonoch, rydym yn gweithio mor gyflym ag y gallwn i ailffocysu ein hymdrechion a dod o hyd i ffyrdd o wneud gwahaniaeth cadarnhaol wrth ddeall yr anawsterau sy'n wynebu staff a phartneriaid. Byddwn yn gwneud ein gorau i weithio gyda phob un ohonoch i ddod â chreadigrwydd i fywydau pobl ledled y DU yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf.

Rydym wedi ein cyffroi gan botensial y cynlluniau a gyhoeddwyd gan BBC Arts yn eu datganiad ‘Culture in Quarantine’. Mae gan ein partneriaid yn y cyfryngau darlledu ran bwysig i'w chwarae wrth gynnwys y cyhoedd mewn gweithgareddau creadigol ar yr adeg hon. Cyhoeddir cynlluniau pellach yn fuan iawn a gobeithiwn y gallwn gynnig platfform, a chefnogaeth, i bawb a hoffai helpu i gynnal ymgysylltiad creadigol yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf.
