Thanks for your feedback on the bracelet prototype last week! It sparked a new prototype with a few updates:
- Thread: started with stretchy plastic thread but that didn't look as "solid", kind of more like something disposable and cheap. Thread feels better.
- Clasp: putting on a bracelet is tough. The benefit of stretchy plastic thread is that I can just pop it on my wrist. But if you need a clasp instead, it has to be sturdy and easy to put on. Started with a weird alligator clasp that was too big and ugly.
- Ended up with a magnetic clasp that looks great -- but the magnets are pretty weak so it falls off. Wondering if there's a magnetic clasp out there that's stronger or uses magnets in a more creative way.
To start these changes, I was thinking we needed to find a jewelry designer, make something custom aka expensive and slow. Instead, I went down to Michael's and got the stuff off the shelf. And in 10 minutes I had a new bracelet prototype that was much more like the one in my head! Rapid prototyping really moves things forward. Pix below!
Who could you picture wearing this?
