The MURDOCK Study offers a range of assets and capabilities. In 10 years, the study has grown to a 12,526-participant, community-based longitudinal cohort. CTSA Collaborative Awards

The CTSA Program Collaborative Innovation Award and the CTSA Program Exploratory Collaborative Innovation Award support collaborative research activities that develop innovative solutions that will improve the efficiency, quality, and impact of turning laboratory, clinic, and community observations into interventions that improve the health of individuals and the public.

Population Health Improvement Awards


CTSI Population Health Improvement Co-Development Awards: LOI Deadline January 24, 2019
Facilitates new investigative community-academic partnerships designed to improve community health and may also include health research that advances the science of stakeholder and community-engaged research.

CTSI Population Health Improvement Advanced Partnership Awards: LOI Deadline January 24, 2019
Supports joint research proposals from community organizations/groups and Duke researchers who have already developed innovations to address health problems and are ready to advance pilot testing these solutions through broader community-engaged implementation research studies.

Population Health Improvement Collaboration Seed Awards: Applications accepted on a rolling basis
Small planning awards of $1,500 to community organizations and Duke investigators interested in working with the CTSI’s Community Engaged Research Initiative (CeRi) for guidance on developing impactful community-research partnerships and planning collaborative population health improvement research proposals that impact community and population health.

BRiDGE RFA for expertise and space in the Chesterfield building 

BRiDGE offers laboratory benches, equipment, facilities, conference rooms, offices, and cubicles at the Chesterfield building, in downtown Durham. It provides a lab administrator (for ordering, etc.), as well as access to an entrepreneur mentor, and summer interns.

  • Eligibility: Duke faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and students who are founders of companies spinning out of Duke.
  • We are accepting applications on a rolling basis for the January to November 2019 cycle. License agreements can be renewed for up to a total of three years.

Duke-Coulter Translational Partnership Grants

  • No fixed award limit. Approximately $700,000 is available annually to fund ~3-5 projects
  • Support collaborative translational research projects that involve co-investigators from the Duke University Department of Biomedical Engineering and a clinical department in the Duke University Health System.
