Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District

“Always include local nature - the land, the water, the air, the native creatures - within the membership of the community.”
— Wendell Berry, Conserving Communities, 1995
We hope you are staying safe at home during this pandemic. Our office will remain closed to public visitors until it is safe again to open. Staff are working remotely and are available through the phone and email. We will check our voicemail weekly and get back to you promptly. Please be patient as we navigate how to serve you while also following safety protocols.

Last week we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the first Earth Day and Arbor Day in the same week! These two days help us remember how important nature's health is to our own health and wellness. As we remain healthy at a safe distance from one another, we can still visit with nature to maintain our health.

Springtime in Kentucky is one of the best seasons to get outside and explore. Taking a break and spending some time in nature is a great way to relax and recharge your mind and body.

Click the links below to find places nearby where you can spend some time in nature, at a safe distance from others of course! And check out the links to fun ways you can connect to nature online as well!
