India Publishes a New Drone Rule and Goes Live with Digital Sky
The Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, published new UAS Rules on March 12, 2021. Then on March 17, the government quietly launched v1.0 of their Digital Sky Platform to enable and regulate drone operations, or Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), as they are termed in India. ANRA Technologies is honored to have been the domain expert for the Digital Sky project to help bring it to life, and we look forward to continued work on future iterations. Getting Closer to Remote ID, Operations Over People, and Night Operations
The final FAA rules requiring remote identification of drones and allowing some flights over people, over moving vehicles, and at night under certain conditions will go into effect on April 21, 2021. Unmanned Flights Take off in Europe Starting in 2023
In 2019, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) published a wide set of regulations for commercial drone operations within member states. As a follow-up to these airspace rules, EASA published a proposed regulatory framework called U-space to help ensure unmanned aircraft operate in a sustainable environment that is safe, secure, and connected. Recently, these regulations were unanimously approved and go into effect in 2023. Our blog post has all the relevant information and links here.
NASA UTM Technical Interchange Meeting
Our very own Founder/CEO, Amit Ganjoo, participated in a NASA panel discussing the Global Impact of UAS Traffic Management (UTM). Amit joined other distinguished panelists to chat about one of his favorite subjects - airspace management! The full event can be watched here.

Greg Nichols at ZDNet wrote a great article on the Air Mobility Urban - Large Experimental Demonstrations (AMU-LED ) project that will be the largest undertaking of its kind with a consortium of 17 companies, organizations and municipalities across the United States and Europe.
