Hitting the (Flight) Deck Running in 2021
Dear <<First Name>>
2020 was a very productive year of growth for ANRA. We launched new products, brought on top talent to join our team, and participated in numerous successful UAS and UAM projects worldwide. And we are just getting started.- Our mission to safely integrate unmanned systems into the world’s airspace will accelerate in 2021, and January kicked off with three major announcements that have been in the works for quite some time.
AMU-LED - Sounds like, “A-man-u-let”
Air Mobility Urban – Large Experimental Demonstrations (AMU-LED) is a Horizon 2020 project of the European Union framed in the SESAR Joint Undertaking, which aims to demonstrate the safe integration of cargo and passenger drone operations in urban airspace.
This will be the largest undertaking of its kind with a consortium of seventeen companies, organizations, and municipalities across Europe. Starting with testing and simulations this quarter, the project will culminate in 2022 with more than 100 hours of air vehicle flight tests over cities in the Netherlands, Spain, and the UK. ANRA will play a vital role in the project by providing its proven SmartSkies™ family of software platforms for advanced airspace management and simulation.
CAELUS We don’t pick the project names
Care & Equity – Healthcare Logistics UAS Scotland (CAELUS) is a consortium that will develop and trial the UK’s first national distribution network using drones to transport essential medicines, blood, organs, and other medical supplies throughout Scotland.
ANRA was sought to be a partner to leverage its SmartSkies™ UTM, SmartSkies™ DELIVERY, and MissionManager™ platform experience and technology as the foundation for the digital demonstrator. Using the flagship SmartSkies™ platform, the CAELUS project will advance drone-enabled delivery capability closer to reality for implementation into legacy airspace systems.
Playing in the UK Civil Aviation Authority Sandbox
Last September, we announced that ANRA Technologies was selected to participate in a highly innovative project to demonstrate BVLOS UAS operations in non-segregated airspace in the UK. This project was recently accepted as a United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Sandbox partner. The Sandbox will allow the project consortium to work closely with the CAA as the project transitions from research to trials to demonstrations. Along the way, the project will provide information to help shape UAS regulations in the UK.
ANRA is growing rapidly, and as we continue to bring on fresh talent to join our global teams, we decided to introduce you to our existing and new members in the form of an Employee Spotlight. First up is David Murphy, AKA "Murf Meister", ANRA’s Chief Architect and Product Manager at the Washington DC office. Read about his role and proclivity for bagpiping here.
GUTMA lands a good one
We would like to congratulate Ajay Modha, Business Unit Head, ANRA Technologies UK, on his new role as the Global UTM Association (GUTMA) Standards Lead. Ajay will be following the ISO, ASTM and EUROCAE activities and leading GUTMA’s standards-related activity.
