Thank You & Merry Christmas!

2020 has been quite a year, hasn't it? And although it's been a difficult and dark year the light, hope, and promises of our Lord have shone through!

We are grateful for your continued prayers, support, and partnership and wish you and your family a merry and blessed Christmas.

Your Fairmount Family

Would you pray for us? Here are some of our prayer needs:

College Students: especially those unable to travel over the break.

Health: of our staff, students, and the Fairmount community.
Outreach Efforts: as we connect with students. Please pray that the Lord gives us opportunities to connect with these students and help them to find a Christian home and community in our Campus & Young Adult Ministry.

The Lord's Provision: He has been Faithful in the past, and we know and believe He will continue to be Faithful! We pray that He will continue to provide for us daily!

Book Club

Join our Winter Break Book Club for college students and young adults! We will meet virtually on Zoom, discussing The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey by Ian Morgan Cron!

We will meet on Monday evenings at 7pm on Zoom for 5 weeks, beginning Dec. 28.

There will also be an option to gather outside the weekly meeting time in groups of 2-4 to discuss further, encourage each other, and hold each other accountable! The goal is to have an accurate understanding of the Enneagram, how it relates to Christianity, what your Enneagram number is, and what that means for you as you navigate life and relationships!

Know a young adult or college student (near or far) who want to connect with other Christians this Christmas season? Feel free to pass this invite on to them...they don't have to be local!

Giving Updates & Thanksgivings!

After recently sharing our YTD giving is down this year, your generosity and support have tremendously touched us! We are excited to share with you some of the recent and unexpected gifts:
  • Local Thrivent representatives hosted a Shred Event in November with funds raised benefiting Orphan Grain Train & Fairmount. This event raised $978.35 in support of Fairmount Ministries & Coffee Company!!
  • Giving Tuesday was Dec. 1, and we were blessed by our generous donors that offered a Giving Tuesday Match, up to $1,100. Including the match, you all blessed us at Fairmount with $2,293.37 this Giving Tuesday! This blew our prior Giving Tuesday fundraising efforts out of the water!
  • At the beginning of the month, we received a generous Chapel Offering from the students at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Cheney!
  • In our recent snail mail newsletter, we asked people to consider an additional year-end gift to offset the 2020 decline in donations. In only three weeks since our mailing, we have received $3,990.00!

We Still Need Your Support!

Even though we have received many monetary blessings these past few weeks, our annual YTD giving remains down 18%, or $26,737, from 2019 giving. You may be asking why, after seeing all the blessings listed above. Without getting too nitty-gritty, while still providing transparency, below we'll try to paint a clear picture:
  • Gifts from Congregations
    • In 2019 we received 34% of our total gifts, or $51,105.60, from churches.
    • This year we've received $34,889.78 from our local churches, a decrease of more than $16,000.
    • Many of our churches have seen a drastic decrease in their members' tithing, which has impacted their ability to support Fairmount Ministries.
  • Gifts from Organizations/Grants
    • In past years we've received support through grant opportunities, special events, and offerings from local events (like LWML events, Sunday School, VBS, etc.). But with grant opportunities being on hold or canceled due to lack of their own funding and many events/fundraisers being canceled due to the pandemic, we have seen a decline in these sources as well.
    • We have applied for and even received support through new funding options through other grant opportunities this year. Still, overall we have not been able to raise the difference and remain at a deficit in this funding category by 16%, or $3,664, from 2019.
  • Gifts from Individuals
    • Many people in our community have been impacted by the economy this year, and we have seen a decrease in our recurring monthly support. We completely understand and empathize with our supporters, all of whom have said their support will return when the economy improves.
    • With the shortfall in giving this year, our community has stepped up and shown their support! Can we take a minute, though, to celebrate that over 80 NEW donors supported Fairmount in 2020!?
    • Yet, giving in this funding category remains down $7,395.75, or 5%, from 2019.
We are a small non-profit with a small operating budget, and a $26,000 decrease in gifts is a significant decrease. If you have discretionary funds in your budget, would you please consider supporting our ministry with an extra-year-end gift...big or small, your gift will help us continue to make an eternal impact in the Wichita State & Fairmount Communities.

Please use this link or the button at the bottom of the email to give electronically. You can also send checks to Fairmount Ministries, 3815 E. 17th St. N., Wichita, KS 67208.

Note if you'd like your gift to be tax-deductible for 2020, your envelope must be postmarked by 12/31/2020.

Helping Our Community

Collection now - December 31. As the weather continues to get colder and people who have lost their jobs struggle to find new ones during a pandemic, we know many in our local community need help. We’re collecting dry non-perishable food items & winter clothing (hats, gloves, socks, coats, blankets)! The drop-off site is located right inside our front entryway. See our website for more details about what is and is not accepted and more information about the organizations that will benefit from your support.

Want to help, but live out of the Wichita area? Click this link to donate to the Food & Clothing Drive through our Community Care Fund.

Thank you for helping us bless our community! As a way to show our appreciation, you will receive 10% off of your order when you show your donation to a Barista!
Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we seek to provide opportunities to foster relationships, encourage community, and promote dialogue about faith and life, for the university and the community in order to bring people closer to Jesus Christ.

We could not continue to do our ministry without the generosity of our faithful donors. Please consider making Fairmount Ministries a part of your planned giving.
