First of all, we hope that this email finds you and your loved ones in good health.
We would like to take the opportunity to announce that MinCiencias, the new ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation in Colombia, has adopted the Misión de Sabios* proposal for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in Colombia.
We, together with a team of researchers of the Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium (TIPC) and our Colombian partners, have contributed to this proposal by submitting the following policy report:
In this report, we emphasizes the need for system change and transformative innovation, based on the key findings of the well-received publication Three Frames for Innovation Policy (Schot & Steinmueller, 2018). This TIPC founding 3 frames paper is also available in Spanish. To implement this, our report proposes a national programme of experimentation with a strong regional focus. We elaborate how our proposal can also contribute to tackling health crises like COVID-19 in this statement.
For further insights and background information on Johan Schot’s work with the Misión de Sabios in Colombia, you can read this Blog, written by Oscar Romero Goyeneche.
This is a great step into the right direction, and a milestone in progressing transformative innovation and system change that treats the SDGs as underlying targets. We are therefore keen to spread the news as widely as possible.
