New West City Reads - There There

A poignant and uplifting contemporary classic, There There by Tommy Orange follows the stories of 12 urban Indigenous people as they converge at the Big Oakland Powwow. The diverse threads and lives are all part of one fabric, in this unforgettable literary debut.

Service Updates

The library will be closing early on New Year's Eve, December 31 at 4:00 and remain closed January 1, 2022. We will reopen at 12 p.m. on January 2, 2022.
We wish everyone a happy new year for 2022!

Building envelope work continues at the Main Branch for December and January. Expect some disruption in the Library plaza area. Gardens will be replanted after the work is complete.

Due to the evolving nature of the pandemic and teh omicron variant, all programs and in-person meetings have been temporarily cancelled until further notice. We will be working to move our children’s storytimes online. Please check our calendar of events frequently for notice of any changes and program times. All other library services are currently still available.

We continue to adapt to new public health orders. Currently masks are required in all indoor public areas. Check out our COVID page for all updated info, or follow us on social media @NWPLibrary.
