Digitize your memories!

Did you know you can convert photos, slides, VHS and cassette tapes to digital format, for FREE? We have three 'creation stations' available for you to help preserve memories, edit sound and video as well as create graphics.

Annual Call for Artists

Our annual Call for Artists in search of those wishing to exhibit their work in our Upstairs Art Space in 2020 is now open! Submissions are due by October 15, 2019.  

New: Community Information Series

In partnership with local community agencies and experts, two new information series kick off this month, one focusing on health the other on law and legal matters:

New West City Reads

New West City Reads offers the chance for residents to read a book and then join us to discuss it. Read a title that interests you or skip it!  Thursday, September 12 we discuss "Murder By Milkshake" by local author Eve Lazarus. Tuesday, September 24 we discuss "Annihilation" by Jeff VanderMeer.

Author Visit: Eve Lazarus

Join us to hear from one of Canada's foremost true-crime authors as she reads from the multi-nominated local best-seller "Murder By Milkshake."

Interlibrary Loan is now 'Illume'

The Provincial Interlibrary Loan site has been redesigned and is now called 'Illume'. (Requires Chrome, Firefox or Safari)

Circle Time with Spirit of the Children

This Fall we have partnered with the incredible folks at Spirit of the Children to offer a unique circle story time that is presented from a First Nations perspective. Free of charge and no registration required.

Teen Youth Write!

Like to write? Want to share your work with the community, or just meet others who like to write too? Come to our Youth Write! afternoon, hosted by NWPL’s Teen Library Club.

Teen Library Club Needs New Members!

Teens. Do you want to be more involved with the library? Drop by one of our Teen Library Club meetings that take place after school on the fourth Tuesday of every month. We hang out, talk about books, make suggestions for materials to add to the library and have a great time. To join, just show up and introduce yourself. 

REMINDER: Kids SRC Wrap Party

Heads up! The SRC Closing Ceremony will be September 7, 1:30 PM at the Main Branch. Bring your medal, get some cake and shake hands with the Mayor!

NW Heritage Society

The next meeting of the New Westminster Heritage Society is September 18, 7 PM. Two former members of the Burnaby Historical Society talk about the history as well as what led to the dissolution of this once great organization.

Labour Day Library Closure

The library will be closed Sunday, September 1 and Monday, September 2.  We are always open 24/7 online at NWPL.CA.
