Spring Break at the Library

All sorts of fun things are happening during spring break in the kids' department!

Who and what do you love? In the Personal Storybook Workshop, we will read a story together and then you'll make your very own storybook from a single sheet of paper inspired by the things you love best. March 12, 2-3 pm.

Want to learn ukulele? Come join celebrated children's music educator, Monica Lee for a free class March 14, 15, OR 16, 10:30-11:30 am. We provide the ukuleles!

A special Kids' Music Concert by Monica Lee rounds out our week. A love letter from parents to kids, this concert appeals to parents and little ones of all ages. Special bonus: if you attend the ukulele class, you're invited to join Teacher Monica on stage! Friday, March 17, 10:30-11:30

Getting into Action on Climate Solutions
Take action on Climate Change! Join educators from RegenerateBC to work through the science and create an actionable climate solution plan over the course of 5 weeks. Remember, actions are contagious, so bring a friend!  Tuesdays 6:30-8 starting March 7.

Katrina Ewanchuk uses expressive colour and intuitive movement in her exhibit, Elements of Nature, to convey the mood, beauty, and the tranquility of nature. Her works often use multiple media to add structure and depth. Come see it at the gallery panels upstairs in the main branch.
Gardening Series: Soil & Plant Care
Did you get seeds from our new Seed Library? Learn how to plant and take care of them starting from the bottom up - soil care. Join expert gardeners from It’s About Thyme Nursery and the Artisan Garden Group to learn about selecting the right soil for the right application, starting a new garden or boosting your existing garden. Bring questions! Thursday, March 16, 6:30-8:00.
iConnect Department
Did you get a new device and need help getting started? Drop in to our iConnect Centre on our 2nd floor of the Main Branch for personalized help on March 13, 3-4:30.
Are you interested in learning about podcasting? Would you like to try recording and editing? Join our monthly guided group discussion to experiment together, learn from each other, and try out our new podcasting equipment. No experience necessary! Next session, March 1, 6-7:30.
Bring your own mobile device or wifi-enabled eReader and get help downloading and reading or listening to eBooks from the Library. Wednesday, March 22, 6-7:30.

Tax season is upon us. Filing taxes is not the most fun, but it is the only way to access lots of government benefits. And cashing a cheque IS fun! Join Family Services in this workshop over Zoom to learn the basics and overcome your challenges. Wednesday, March 8, 6-7:30.
CaRT Peer Navigators
If you are struggling and don't know where to start, our new Community and Resource Team (CaRT) can help you get sorted. These peer navigators with lived experience are available for weekly drop-ins to work with you one-on-one to achieve your goals. Every Wednesday 11-2, upstairs in the Ash Street Room.
