Blind Date with a Book

February is the month of love, so rekindle your love of reading with some blind dates suggested by our matchmaking librarians. Between February 1-14, fill out our questionnaire to identify your 'type' and we will set you up with 3 'dates' we think you'll love. Pick up your brown paper packages, and remember, don't judge a book by its cover!

Are you a visual artist living or working in New West? Are you interested in a month-long exhibit on our 2nd floor gallery panels? We want to see your work! Submit to our Call for Artists for 2022-2023, open until February 11, 2022.

February is Black History Month, and the librarians at NWPL have lots of resources for all ages and in a variety of formats to learn more about Black history. As well as these lists, check out the displays in the library for more ideas!

Children’s programs have moved online again for the winter, and we would still love to see you! Join us Tuesdays at 10:30 for Storytime, and Wednesdays at 10:30 for Babytime. Email youth@nwpl.ca for the Zoom links.

Digital Resources - Mango Languages

Are you dreaming of travel? Why not learn to speak to some of the people where you want to go? Mango Languages has learning modules for more than 70 world languages for you to get started - all for free with your library card!

SFU Writer Consultations

Does your New Year's resolution involve spending more time focusing on your writing? Give yourself a boost with a private consultation with writers from the SFU Writers' Studio! Sessions are the second Tuesday of each month, with the next one happening February 8, 2022.

Service Updates

The library will be closed on Sunday February 20 and Monday February 21, 2022 for Family Day. Happy Family Day!

Building envelope work continues at the Main Branch. Expect some disruption in the Library plaza area until early February. Gardens will be replanted after the work is complete.

Due to the evolving nature of the pandemic and the omicron variant, all programs and in-person meetings have been temporarily cancelled or moved online until further notice. Please check our calendar of events frequently for notice of any changes and program times. All other library services are currently still available.

Stay tuned for our upcoming Podcasting Series which will be presented later this spring, as well as our drop-in employment sessions facilitated by WorkBC, which we hope to reinstate as soon as we can do it safely.

We continue to adapt to new public health orders. Currently masks are required in all indoor public areas. Check out our COVID page for all updated info, or follow us on social media @NWPLibrary.
