Do you know someone who could use a library card? They can apply for a card online HERE and choose either an eCard (for digital resources) or a Full Membership card (for digital resources AND all physical materials).

New West City Reads
Join our monthly, online book club! This month we are reading Approaching Fire, a memoir by Métis poet, Michelle Porter, as she searches for her grandfather. Our online discussion takes place on May 20 at 6:30 on Zoom.

New West Cooks is your chance to celebrate all things cook books. Join us this month to share recipes for Brunch favourites, just in time for Mother’s Day! Via Zoom, May 5 from 10:30-12:00.

Young Readers Book Club Expanding!
Attention young readers ages 9-12! Due to popular demand, we have expanded our Young Readers' Book Club to twice a month. Come and read a selected book and then discuss with your peers. You even get to keep the book! Meetings are either May 18 or 25, from 3:30-4:30 on Zoom.

Congratulations to This Year's RLC Participants!
This year, over 100 grade 4 & 5 New West students participated in the Reading Link Challenge! Students in teams from schools across New West read six great novels and competed in trivia challenges testing their knowledge of the books. We’d like to recognize everyone’s hard work and dedication, especially this year as the program moved online for the first time. Congratulations one and all!

Mayor's Food Bank Challenge
Did you know that the Greater Vancouver Food Bank distributed more than 5 million pounds of food last year in Vancouver, Burnaby, New West and the North Shore? During the month of May, the GVFB is running the Mayors' Food Bank Challenge to see which municipality can collect the most in donations. Drop off your non-perishable donations at the library or make a donation online.
